  • Homeless Good Drive

Homelessness has a devastating impact on homeless children and youth’s educational opportunities. Residency requirements, guardianship requirements, delays in transfer of school records, lack of transportation, and lack of immunization records often prevent homeless children from enrolling in school. Homeless children and youth who are able to enroll in school still face barriers to regular attendance: while 87% of homeless youth are enrolled in school, only 77% attend school regularly.…

Homeless children and youth who are able to enroll in school still face barriers to regular attendance: while 87% of homeless youth are enrolled in school, only 77% attend school regularly.

I have decided to tackle this problem during the holiday season.

As many of you may know I recently lost my mother and in honor of our birthdays (12/2 and 12/5) I am hosting a Homeless Goods Drive starting on my birthday 12/2 until 12/13.

Many of my students at Virgil Middle School are homeless. They depend on a local organization, People Assisting the Homeless (PATH). My goal is to collect as many donations as possible to help support the homeless in my school's community.

The donations will be used to purchase toothbrushes, soap, toothpaste, and socks.

I would love for everyone to help me make this a successful charity event. If you would like to drop off donations please email me brandiredick@gmail.com

    Thank you in advance.

FFSC strives to help underprivileged, abused, and abandoned youth overcome the vicious cycle of poverty, poor education and violence by supporting them academically, emotionally, and economically. Through the combination of academic support and mentorship in an environment of love, trust and respect, FFSC creates second chances for disadvantaged youth to turn their lives around.
