About us
Linktree: https://linktr.ee/woodsservices Woods Services is a nonprofit organization that supports children, adolescents, and adults with complex medical and behavioral health care needs, including intellectual and developmental disabilities, to achieve their highest potential and independence through innovative and individualized approaches that promote learning and personal fulfillment. Woods’ vision is a world where individuals have opportunities and supports that promote self-determination, dignity, respect, the joy of achievement, and a fulfilling life. Woods achieves this vision by providing comprehensive and integrated healthcare, education, housing, vocational, behavioral health, and case management services, along with a population health management strategy that includes the integration of primary and specialty medical care with behavioral health. More than 600 individuals from 23 states and 175 school districts are supported by Woods and its 1,500 staff at its Langhorne, Pennsylvania headquarters. To ensure lifelong care and supports for the individuals its serves, Woods created the Woods System of Care – a network of affiliate organizations located in Pennsylvania and New Jersey that includes Abilities of Northwest Jersey; Allies, Inc.; Archway Programs; Legacy Treatment Services; Tabor Services; and Woods Community at Brian’s House. Through this collaboration, the Woods System of Care provides lifelong care and supports to individuals in the intellectual and developmental disability and mental health public health sectors who have complex medical and behavioral health care needs. Founded in 1913 by Philadelphia schoolteacher Mollie Woods to advance the quality of life and standard of care for individuals with disabilities, Woods continues this mission today. Loved kicking off the Woods System of Care Ground Rounds today on the use of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) in specialized settings that serve people with Autism, presented by Dr. Sailaja Musunuri and PBIS Consultant, Dr. Todd Harris. It was fantastic to see so many colleagues from our system of care partners in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Woods Services

We spent the morning with residents at Beechwood who are helping tend the community garden. The plants are growing well in new beds and soil, and the residents are harvesting lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and more for the Clubhouse Culinary Unit! #Gardening

We love working with like-minded organizations like the Autism Society of America who are working to champion integrated quality health care and health equity for complex people with Autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Woods Services is #FCProud to be a recent grantee. The grant will support the implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) in our residential programs. Woods has been successfully using PBIS for 7 years in our schools, thanks to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Foundations Community Partnership now shares our vision of continuing to train clinicians and residential staff to reinforce this methodology outside the classroom, creating positive reinforcement and lifestyle outcomes. This afternoon, Woods System of Care was thrilled to provide a 4-hour CE training at the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Scientific and Training Symposium in Jacksonville, FL on “USPHS Training Day” to healthcare professionals working in the USPHS and on the front lines of public health in communities across the U.S. The training was titled, “Inclusive Integrated Healthcare: Serving People with Intellectual Disability, Autism (ID/A) and Complex Needs.” I especially enjoyed presenting with my amazing Woods System of Care colleagues, Dr. Sailaja Musunuri, Chief of Psychiatry/EVP of Integrative Medicine and Vida LeMaire, Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Woods. The training symposium included an overview of: 1) the challenges faced by people with ID/A and complex needs and their families, 2) assessment and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, and 3) highlights of Woods’ integrated care model and numerous case studies to exemplify aspects of our treatment approaches. Woods System of Care is aligned with the Surgeon General’s call to action to improve health and wellness for people with disabilities. One of Woods System of Care’s strategic priorities is to build health equity, address health disparities and expand care for people with ID/A and complex needs by educating the existing healthcare workforce, students and systems how to provide ID/A-friendly care. Our 3rd annual Day of Service may have passed, but we’re still riveting with excitement over what we were able to accomplish in just one day. It was a rewarding afternoon spent volunteering at non-profits extending from #Philadelphia to the #LehighValley. Thank you to the incredible organizations we partnered with and our 300+ team members who rose to the challenge. 💙💚 In addition to lending a helping hand, the Penn Community Bank Foundation donated $110,000 to non-profits in our communities to ensure the momentum continues throughout the year.
