At United Way of Bucks County we are strong #advocates for #ALICE! This week, our President & CEO, Marissa Christie, presented at a hearing of the House Ways and Means Committee. Marissa shared how the Child Tax Credit makes a difference for working households with children.
It was an honor and a privilege to address members of the House Ways and Means Committee today. I had a chance to advocate for Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed (ALICE) workers and pro-ALICE tax policies. I am particularly grateful to Congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) and Mike Carey (OH-15) for their commitment to working families. Huge thanks to Kyle Melander (I know you work hard to make it look easy), our host Tom Lawton (TESCO), as well as Bill Ferrara, Bill Brady, and Ryan Gordon, AAMS® and the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce for their commitment to businesses and nonprofits. And, of course, it's always a pleasure to advocate alongside collaborators like Erin Lukoss and Valerie Hamilton! #LIVEUNITED #ALICE #advocacy #BucksCounty

Strategic nonprofit executive with adaptive leadership style. Diversifying organizational revenue and leading advocacy to multiply United Way’s impact on the education and financial stability of Pennsylvania families.
How serious does Pennsylvania’s workforce crisis have to get before policymakers come upstream to join United Way in our efforts to make it possible for ALICE to work AND be more prosperous? In the state with the 5th highest population of people over 60, business can’t be profitable and our economy can’t grow without full participation and/or immigration to replenish the labor force.
The 2024-2025 PA State budget passed tonight without the strategic investments that United Way has been advocating for on behalf of ALICE. This new budget has failed to deliver for ALICE families who are struggling to make ends meet. To view United Way of Pennsylvania’s full budget statement, visit https://ow.ly/IFzR50SA4ML

Recently on June 14th, the Langan team was a sponsor of United Way of Bucks County’s Bucks Knocks Out Hunger 2024. The event resulted in over 100,000 meals packed and shipped to food shelters nearby. Our team ended up packaging 17 cases or 612 packets, which held 4-6 servings each. It was such a great time to see the community come together!
