Over the past few days and through this weekend, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue has had the opportunity to practice training in a real commercial space at our Raleigh Hills School project that’s set for demolition soon. Crews are working on hose movement, spraying water, ventilation techniques in the roof and performing search drills – among other skills. Thanks to the Beaverton School District and our project team for helping facilitate this rare occasion to allow these neighborhood fire crews to prepare for real emergencies. And thank you to TVF&R for its dedication to serving our community! Last week Pence proudly joined our client, Deschutes County, to break ground on its downtown courthouse expansion! County Commissioners Phil Chang, Anthony DeBone and Patti Adair, along with Presiding Judge Ashby, all spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony. Deschutes County Courthouse officials, community partners, and team members from LRS Architects, Inc. and the Cumming Group also attended the event. “If we don’t have enough physical space to do justice work then people don’t have timely access to justice,” said Commissioner Chang. Pence is thankful to be Deschutes County’s partner in Building Space for Justice to Flourish. Congratulations on kicking off this exciting project, which will double the current footprint to approximately 52,000 SF, including adding new courtrooms, judges’ chambers, offices, holding cells and secure parking. Congratulations to the city of Redmond for breaking ground on its future Public Safety Facility earlier in the week! This is the second new project we commenced this month. On May 13, a large group of attendees were addressed by Redmond Mayor Ed Fitch, City Councilor Clifford Evelyn and Redmond Police Department, Oregon (PD) Administrative Captain Aaron Wells. City and county elected officials partook in the first flip-of-the-dirt and captured the moment with photos. How meaningful that so many community members showed up for the groundbreaking ceremony, including elected officials, Redmond PD staff, FFA Architecture and Interiors, Inc., the Cumming Group and others – Thank you! Pence is excited to be Redmond’s partner in Building Space for Safety to Flourish. The new 43,000 SF facility will house the PD, including safety training, and serve as an emergency operations center to better meet future public safety needs. During the month of May, our team has had the honor of participating in three groundbreaking celebrations to kick off new projects! On May 4, we gathered in the pouring rain with stakeholders and students from David Douglas High School to commence its new Career Technical Education center. The ceremony involved several speakers who voiced their excitement for this cool new facility, the official shovels-in-the-dirt dedication, a native dance by an 11th grader, a sneak peek at BRIC Architecture, Inc.’s renderings, and take-home jars containing soil that was turned and mixed with flower seed so attendees can grow with the building. Congratulations to the DDHS community on a successful start to this project and thanks to everyone who showed up on a Saturday!
