Not because she cares, per see, but because she thinks his young woman may be a kindred spirit. And she thinks it might just be interesting to have a tiny psychopath in her life to...well, not mother, but maybe to help mold? And maybe (just maybe) someone who is like her would understand her. That would be...nice? Right?

Ok, so finding Kayla involves going back to her hometown and meeting with the family that turned Jane into what she is today. As they say, nature loaded the gun and the environment pulled the trigger. Jane's parents have terrible trigger control. They are the epitome of what most people consider trash bags. Jane's mother in particular, whose complete neglect led to a pedophile being given access to her young daughter, coupled with a reliable amount of victim blaming, helped give rise to Jane's psychopathic tendencies.

I won't spoil the story for you but Jane tries to figure out how to cope with her version of being in love, attempts to rescue her dangerous niece from a politician who might be even more dangerous, and deals severely with a co-worker who thinks he can steal her ideas.

The writing style sucked me in and I found myself once again enjoying the ride inside of Jane's head. PS -I love that Jane has found a man with the sort of psychological issues that complement her own. So, here's hoping that Kayla doesn't kill them both in their sleep!...more

An issue or 2 in, I recognized the story as something I'd DNF'd before but I figured I might as well be done with it or I'd probably grab it again on accident. shudder

Archer & Armstrong team up with Quantum and Woody to go on an incredibly tedious Hobo Adventure. Armstrong (who is immortal, btw) was handed the keys to the Hobo kingdom many years prior, in the form of a map made of tattooed butt skin. Quantum and Woody are hired by an Organic Guru, whose corporation made a small army of thugs who are part cow and part plant, to find the Hobo Treasure. Hijinks ensue.

Oh god. This was a complete slog. I just want to forget this cornball comic and move on with my day. Save yourself and skip this....more

Wow. Talk about some real witchy women...
In the world of Archie Comics, Sabrina the Teenage Witch is your magical girl next door. Sweet, pretty, & head-over-heels in love with her high school sweetheart, Harvey Kinkle. In the regular comics, Sabrina is always trying to sneak around to do good with her magic - despite her two aunts and cat (Salem) trying their best to get her to act a bit more like a real witch.
In this, the characters are all there, but instead of the usual sweet and silly tone of a regular Sabrina story, you've got a dark retelling of her origin. It's set in the 1960's, which is cool because that was when she originally debuted as a character in Archie's world. Plus, the 60's setting coupled with the spooky art just gives a real Rosemary's Baby sort of vibe to the comic.

The Madam Satan (Iola/ Evangeline Porter) character is entirely revamped and given a new backstory involving Sabrina's father. As far as I'm aware, she has never before appeared in a comic with Sabrina, but I could be wrong. At any rate, she's out for revenge against the Spellman's, and she's crazy as hell. <--which is ironically where she's been for a quite while. [image] Sabrina doesn't live in Riverdale, she lives in the nearby town of Greendale. But since they are so close together, a few of Riverdale's famous cheerleaders do make a rather important pit stop in her town. [image] I went into it thinking that it might be a cheesy cash grab or a stupid companion comic to the CW spin-off of their Riverdale show. But by the time I finished I had to admit that I was really impressed by everything about this. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it definitely exceeded my expectations and thoroughly entertained me. The last issue left me on pins and needles, and I can't wait to see where this is headed next!

Archie Comics is doing a great job revamping their line-up and quickly becoming one of my top picks when it comes to graphic novels. So, if you're in the market for a not so nice little comic about a teenage witch, then Sabrina is your girl.
