This was a short, sweet novella (did I mention free?) from Tessa Dare. I love the been in love with best fFree at the Kindle store! <--for now, anyway.
This was a short, sweet novella (did I mention free?) from Tessa Dare. I love the been in love with best friend's sister for years trope and this one was adorably well done.

Our hero steps in to save his secret love from the shame of being abandoned at the altar, and then they proceed to his (unbeknownst to him) horribly maintained vacation cottage by the sea. To him, he's an unsuitable choice that has been unfairly thrust upon this goddess of a woman, and he's trying desperately not to offend or frighten her delicate sensibilities. The poor lady has lost her brother and has been forced by circumstance to marry his best friend or face ruin! Turns out, there's a lot he doesn't know about his wife or how she really feels about him.

If you're jonesing for some Tessa Dare, this hits the spot! Recommended!...more
First of all, this is free on Amazon Kindle. As it should be. Because this is really NOT a good example of Tessa Dare's writing ability.

Also, this is not a paranormal story about a girl who falls in love with a shape-shifting deer. Thank god. Because that really would have sunk the story even lower.
I don't even really know what to say about this. It's not terrible. But it's so far below anything else I've read of her's, that I would only recommend it to her fans because they already know she's a good writer. This, unfortunately, is just some middle of the road blah novella....more
Ok. Well, I see why DC was giving this one away. I've had it sitting on my Kindle for a while now, but I never bothered to look at it till last night Ok. Well, I see why DC was giving this one away. I've had it sitting on my Kindle for a while now, but I never bothered to look at it till last night when I needed something to go with my chips 'n salsa. I mean, I knew it would be short, but this was ridiculous. Maybe 5 or six pages of 'story' in this thing? And then a whole bunch of covers. Basically, it just gives a Super-Fast (*chortle*) origin story for Barry.

Believe me, nobody loves free shit more than I do, but this isn't worth downloading, in my opinion....more
So this one was a freebie that caught my eye a while back, but I never got around to reading it till a few days ago. I didn't even plan on fin2.5 stars
So this one was a freebie that caught my eye a while back, but I never got around to reading it till a few days ago. I didn't even plan on finishing it, really. I just needed something to keep me occupied while I was sitting in the car line one day, and the cover seemed kinda cool. But, Hey!, I finished it, so that's a good sign, right?!

So Sam has the ability to go intangible, and she accidentally does it in front of a boy named Will. {spoilery things} He helps her practice controlling her powers, they investigate the origins of her genetic differences and fall in lurve. You know, standard young adult story stuff...

Annnnnd, you have a pretty decent little story. The ending has a bit of a cliffhanger, but I'm not going to continue with this series. It's not bad, but I don't think I want to read any further. For a freebie, this was ok, though.
One complaint:

Hyphens! Hyphens everywhere! Ok, I'm not a grammar freak. A comma in the wrong place? *shrugs* I doubt I'd even catch it. Hell, I doubt I'd even notice something that's misspelled 90% of the time. And I butcher misuse punctuation enough to feel that any comment I may make will (and should) probably be taken with a grain of salt. But. I had a hard time focusing on the plot at times, because of all the freakin' hyphenated words in the book! Now, I'm not saying that those words couldn't be hyphenated, just that they usually aren't. Examples, you ask? Well, I happen to have highlighted a few...
"So you ready to get up-to-speed on our research?" "I dug through my sock drawer and found one-hundred-sixty-five dollars: a twenty-dollar-an-hour pledge." "Will added slivers of nutty-bright-scented garlic." "I rippled back, smiling at my skin-clad hands, at the control I had over the coming-back-part."
And maybe it's just a case of once you notice one blue car, you notice all the blue cars, but after a while, I couldn't stop seeing all the hyphens and it really screwed with the enjoyment level.
