We stayed one night in a converted monastery on a small island in the Bodensee (Lake Constance) As we arrived the sun was setting so I ran out quickly to get a few snaps. It was peaceful and beautiful there at this time of year.

Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire

This is a view from one of the Latvia's most shallow lakes, Kanieris, bird paradise.

We went to its bird watching tower over the scenic wooden boardwalk, and on the way saw swans, ducks, and wagtails, white herons and geese, but none of them close enough to get a good photo.

The cities and towns were far away, so the only sounds was rustle of reeds in wind, light splashes of low waves, and calls, songs and chit-chat of birds. In the place where the reeds completely surrounded the path, it felt as if we would be surrounded by noisy students of a bird university during lunch break. Sounds came from all around, but birds were masterfully hiding from us. Only when we stopped for few minutes motionless, some bunch of pretty tiny yellow birds landed down on the path, but while I tried to get my camera and capture some group portrait, they realized they were not alone and left... So I can share only story about them and photo of reeds where they were hiding. :-)

Late afternoon in Coyote Buttes South area (Cottonwood Trailhead).

In the distant background burned a large fire, probably a forest fire near the Bryce Canyon. The smoke attracted miles to the Vermilion Cliffs.

No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face.

The Coast to Coast Walk is a 192-mile (309 km) unofficial and mostly unsignposted long-distance footpath in Northern England. Devised by Alfred Wainwright, it passes through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park. Lake District

The Lake District, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous region in North-West England. A popular holiday destination, it is famous for its lakes, forests and mountains and its associations with the early 19th century writings of William Wordsworth and the other Lake Poets.

An early morning shot of Denali and the Alaska range across the Chulitna river, a tributary of the Susitna river, which are both fed by the huge Ruth Glacier on the SE side of Denali.

The Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier is the world’s deepest. The ice is 3700 feet deep, some of it more than a thousand years old. The surrounding walls soar 4000-5000 feet above. Were the ice to melt tomorrow, you would witness a spectacle twice as awesome as the Grand Canyon—a gorge a mile wide and nearly two miles high. !!

A couple more shots of this scene in comments.

Enjoy a wonderful summer weekend!

Haven't been up to the mountains for ages so posting an older image of the handsome male Bear 164 (I edited out his ear tag). This profile shot shows the distinctive Grizzly dish shaped snout. Since this sighting he's been in a fight with another bear and has a nasty bite on his face.

Y la primavera ya se acerca :-)

那天薄薄雲霧讓花海多了點神秘感~

It was nice to get some time away from work and head off early with the dog. I was about to give it away when the sun cut through holes in the clouds to disperse shards of light across the landscape. The intense green in our landscape is unusual at this time of the year and is a result of ongoing spring rains.

Another of my photos of Strasbourg from Wednesday last week. This is an old area where several mills operated. Reminds me of Borghetto - see my photo - link below.

It was so cloudy that evening that I didn't expect to take any pictures of the mountain. But magic happened and for a little while Mt Shuksan showed up in all her beauty.

Upper Waterton Lake from the Bear's Hump. The far mountains are in Montana.

Manning Gorge, The Kimberley's, Western Australia.

A long hot walk to reach this oasis, but so worth the effort. The water was so cold it was hard to stay in long...although it didn't seem to bother the European backpackers, which you can just make out at the base of the falls.

These falls were far more substantial than they appear in this image.

This gorgeous light suddenly appeared after a wet and gloomy day.

Have a wonderful Sunday!
