Sunrise in the deep playa this morning... I've been awake for 25 hours, 90% of it driving/lines to get here to Burning Man. We were SO TIRED when we got here at 3:30 AM after a very long day... but we knew the sunrise was only a few hours away and hundreds of new places to discover! Rene and I jumped on some bikes to explore for a few hours. I also got a picture of him riding a 10x-sized wild boar, and will share that later. #burningman2016 #burningman #Blackrockcity #industwetrust #treyratcliff via Trey Ratcliff on FB at ift.tt/1v05hWZ Snapchat: treyratcliff ift.tt/1qx3iMJ Instagram: treyratcliff ift.tt/1c7s6Uy
Finally managed to catch a break with the weather - unseasonably warm - nice to see the blue sky, with a lovely side light to enjoy. This scene is on the higher ground and the back end of the Mary Gilbert walk.
Idling on Track 4 at OTC, METX #149 is now clad in the new Metra livery, one of a handful of older, rebuilt F40PH-2s that have been repainted in the past year.
Tokaanu Thermal Walk. Steaming hot mineral pools set in sinter basins and spluttering mud pools amidst the native bush, near Tokaanu, on the Suthern end of Lake Taupo, New Zealand. For hundreds of years, Maori have used the geothermal resources of this area for cooking, bathing and leisure.
From a New Year's series I did for Chicshop.ca .

Strobist info: Natural light, fluorescent light, + Speedlight triggered with pocketwizards.
Brought the WB down to 2500K (or something) to get it all blue-ish...Gelled a speedlight with 4 cuts of CTO, bounced off the door.
I work right down the block but I don't usually get to this side of 34th. That is unless I go to B&H, and I happened to stop by yesterday. I picked up a 50mm 1.4 to play with. I snapped this up when I first put it on the 5Dmkii walking back up 34th. My favorite part about the lens is it's so small and light weight.
Happy new year everybody from Liverpool and its light night festival during the month of November...
I went to check on my house in Maine, this past Saturday, arriving after dark. When I got their, it was obvious that a moose was staying by the house.
Sunday morning, I shoveled the deck and opened a path to the side door. After completing some other chores, I set up my camera in hope of photographing chickadees and maybe a Gray Jay. About an hour later, this cow (female moose) came strolling up the driveway, walked through the yard , across the cut and disappeared into the woods. She was unfazed by my presence and has obviously taken up residence around the house.
Unfortunately, I had to leave on Monday for the 500 mile trip back to New York. I didn't get the opportunity to see her again.
Hopefully she'll still be around when I get back in March. I've had this house for 17 years and this is only the fourth time, moose have been close to the house. Black bears are more frequent visitors (especially if I have a bird feeder out).
Tomorrow will be the first day of spring over here, officially.
A shot from my archives, the tree didn't make it through the drought, unfortunately. The trunk is still there, though.
Have a happy Friday, everyone!
