Jukkasjárvi, Lapland, Sweden
I did not sleep there, it was really cold!!
The Icehotel is a hotel rebuilt each year with snow and ice in the village of Jukkasjärvi, in northern Sweden, about 17 kilometres (11 mi) from Kiruna. It is the world's first ice hotel.]
After its first opening in 1990, the hotel has been rebuilt each year from December to April. The hotel, including the chairs and beds, is constructed from snow and ice blocks taken from the nearby Torne River. Artists are invited to create different rooms and decorations made by ice. Besides bedrooms, there is a bar, with glasses made of ice and an ice chapel that is popular with marrying couples. The structure remains below freezing, around −5 °C (23 °F)
Just back from my first trip to Iceland and I thought I'd process a one from the Breiðamerkursandur Ice beach opposite the Jökulsárlón glacier lake.I honestly thought I had no keepers from this location as the wind, rain and sea spray were absolutely battering my camera, even with a rain cover over you have to constantly wipe the lens and hope for the best whilst fighting the wind at the same time. A really surreal place with black sand and the white, blues and diamond like ice washing up on the shore as you hear them crackle.

Buon risveglio dopo un po di meditazione.
One of those you get at a supermarket and no matter what you do, it never blooms again! It doesn't die, but it never blooms. The image is from an old file but with new processing done in Topaz. Thanks for stopping by. All comments are very much appreciated.

We had an ice storm overnight and it was predicted that we would get more than a quarter inch of ice, but luckily we only got between a tenth and two tenths of an inch. I am thankful all my trees are still standing, but other people weren't so lucky. This is from the tree in my front yard, right in front of my porch. Not sure what type of tree it is anymore, but it blooms in winter time. It's late this year, it usually blooms in December. I was lucky enough to grab this pic right before the droplet let go. Shot it with my 55mm lens on themacro setting. I have been trying to shoot in strictly manual mode, but the ice was already melting and I wanted the shot and I thought if I try to shoot this in manual, the ice will have all melted before I figured out what I wanted to make the camera do.
Ice-skating on lake Jonsvatnet in Trondheim, Norway. Cold day, about -17C and the ice was absolutely perfect.
It is February and the usually frozen Lake Huron is just beginning to ice up in a few locations..... an unusual winter here in Ontario.
Last weekend, I did my first backpacking trip with Derek to the beautiful Ice Lake near Silverton, CO. It was an exhausted and strenuous hike to reach ~12,500 feet but all the efforts were rewarded by the unreal blue color.
