The cat (Felis catus), also known as the domestic cat or house cat to distinguish it from other felines, is a small predatory carnivorous species of crepuscular mammal that is valued by humans for its companionship and its ability to hunt vermin, snakes and scorpions. It has been associated with humans for at least 9,500 years.[5]

A skilled predator, the cat is known to hunt over 1,000 species for food. It can be trained to obey simple commands. Individual cats have also been known to learn on their own to manipulate simple mechanisms, such as doorknobs. Cats use a variety of vocalizations and types of body language for communication, including meowing, purring, hissing, growling, squeaking, chirping, clicking, and grunting.[6] Cats may be the most popular pet in the world, with over 600 million in homes all over the world.[7] They are also bred and shown as registered pedigree pets. This hobby is known as the "cat fancy".

Until recently the cat was commonly believed to have been domesticated in ancient Egypt, where it was a cult animal.[8] However a 2007 study found that the lines of descent of all house cats probably run through as few as five self-domesticating African Wildcats (Felis silvestris lybica) circa 8000 BC, in the Near East.[4]

This weekend we headed over to Park Slope to celebrate Justin's 30th birthday with friends and family. Had a great time and great vegan food. This guy was sitting on the counter just begging to be photographed. All I had was my iPhone, but it seems to have done a decent job.

Cats playing xbox?

This is fiji, my cat. I picked fiji from the streets almost 3 months ago and now we are really close. I love to take pictures of him and I think these came out decent =)

Sheree's cat forever it seemed. She lived to be 12 or so. She was a sweet kitty. Typical cat, kept to herself for the most part but gave Mama lots of love. She put up with me. She was there before me you know.

Before jealous Mr D was in the picture, Minx and Fancy used to play together a lot. Minx clamped around Fancy's neck (too much fur to hurt Fancy) and Fancy would walk/run around trhe house with Minx attached to her. Funny stuff.

She passed away in 2008. 2008 was a bad year for us losing pets: Minx first then Fancy.

The Thais are great animal lovers, meaning they feed all the stray dogs and keep the kittens alive.

Tiger wandered into the neighborhood last year and found me. He pretty much lives with me now, even though I know where his owner lives. Of course he is the perfect cat; quiet, playful, adventurous and trusting.

In the fading light of the late afternoon this fellow relaxes in front of his garage.

I love it when I catch the cats yawning ... lol.

This is my friends cat. I took tons of pictures, she kept posing. I adore this image of her. At a later date they will be up on my fb page which is linked on other pictures.

Saturday 9th March: Soft

Sunday 10th March: Time: Time has gone so quick, I have known this cat since she was a kitten and I remember it like it was yesterday

Found this stray cat hanging around at A.D. Barnes Park, Miami.

The Nikkor 400mm ƒ3.5 AI clearly is crisp as you can see the coat of the cat and the bokeh is awesomely creamy.
