McFarlane Toys 1999

This male was basking in the morning sunshine on the head of a Crested Dog's-tail grass (Cyanosurus cristatus). Its scientific name "Polyommatus" refers to the many eyes on its underside, whereas icarus is after the character in Greek mythology who flew too near the sun on wings fashioned with wax and feathers.

This is a shot of my kitty's eye. She's a brown-tipped siamese with the bluest eyes I've seen! I can't believe she stayed still long enough for me to get this one. Yay!

From Aby, 1999, in her Victoria Centre flat, Nottingham. I'd gone round for dinner during one of her clear-outs and she gave me three sari underskirts that she'd bought from a Leicester market, saying she never wore them anymore - red, blue and green. I remeber wearing this to work a lot when I was a BT Operator for six months straight out of uni. I used to cycle in and get changed so I had quick and easy things to change into because I was always cutting it fine as I wanted to spend as little time there as possible.

Here I tried to carefully select a background colour from the forest that complimented the colours of the bird, thankfully there was stll some autumn colours around to allow this warm yellow/green bokeh.
