Grandma and I went out to the Quail Botanical Gardens today. It was a spur of the moment thing. Even in the dead of winter it was beautiful. Here is a little of what we saw.

First capture of one of these, and my first thought was that it might have been a male Elfin Skimmer

which would have also been a first for me.

I didn't see any females, so I'll try again tomorrow to see if I can find any fems.

Don't know what these are, but there was a whole bush of them at the Hammonton Lake, back in December. I couldn't refind them on my next visit, so I guess the birds got them.

We had to climb uphill on a lot of stairs to reach Thiksey monastery. but once we reached inside, we were so mesmerized the colourful and beautiful 40 feet statue of Maitreya buddha that we forgot having climbed that high

I was surprised at how many of these were still "blooming' in the woods at Jenkins Arboretum

Great Blue Heron at the Millstone River Aqueduct.

Blue Tit at a small reserve in North Cove near Beccles, Suffolk.

A big concert for the forests was held on the 23rd September 2008 at the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaron).

The performers were: Alexiou, Andreou, Kraounakis, Mahairitsas, Mitropanos, Mitsias, T. Mikroutsikos, Dalaras, Papakonstantinou, Portokaloglou, Savopoulos, Stokas, Tsaknis, Tsaligopoulou and Farantouri.

About 70.000 people attended the concert.

The revenues (gross?) would be given to the "Forest Fund".

Μεγάλη συναυλία για τα δάση συνδιοργάνωσαν στις 23 Σεπτεμβρίου 2008 στο Παναθηναϊκό Στάδιο ("Καλλιμάρμαρο") ο ΣΚΑΪ, το Μουσείο Γουλανδρή Φυσικής Ιστορίας και ο ραδιοφωνικός σταθμός Μελωδία.

Οι καλλιτέχνες που συμμετείχαν αφιλοκερδώς στη συναυλία ήταν οι: Χάρις Αλεξίου, Γιώργος Ανδρέου, Σταμάτης Κραουνάκης, Λαυρέντης Μαχαιρίτσας, Δημήτρης Μητροπάνος, Μανόλης Μητσιάς, Θάνος Μικρούτσικος, Γιώργος Νταλάρας, Βασίλης Παπακωνσταντίνου, Νίκος Πορτοκάλογλου, Διονύσης Σαββόπουλος, Μπαμπης Στόκας, Διονύσης Τσακνής, Ελένη Τσαλιγοπούλου, και Μαρία Φαραντούρη.

Περίπου 70.000 κόσμος παραβρέθηκε στη συναυλία.

Τα έσοδα από τη συναυλία δόθηκαν στο "Ταμείο Δασών" (Υπουργείο Ανάπτυξης).
