Strictly's Amy Dowden issues update as she shows off new hair following cancer battle

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden was diagnosed with stage three cancer in May last year and was forced to pull out of the 2023 series of the BBC dance show.

Welsh dancer Amy Dowden has bravely shared a new update to her fans after getting the "all clear" from doctors. A few months ago, she was informed that she no longer has cancer in her body.

The Strictly Come Dancing star has informed her fans that her hair is beginning to grow back "curly". Amy recieved multiple rounds of chemotherapy during her cancer treatment which resulted in her shaving her hair.

Amy was first diagnosed with aggressive stage three cancer in May last year and was forced to pull out of the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing. 

Speaking to her fans on Instagram, she stated: "So many ask about my hair growth and how it's growing so fast! Well thanks to @_thegoodnessguide She got me on the bone broth.

"Going to share a video later of how I make it and you will see in the past few months the difference in my hair growth! Hope this helps. Also look it's come back curly."

In recent news, Amy has detailed her "tough" experience raising money for Coppafeel as she embarked on a four day trek. The Strictly Come Dancing star teamed up with fellow professional dancer Carlos Gu to take on the Brecon Beacons trek to raise awareness for breast cancer

Taking to Instagram, she wrote to her 662,000 followers: "Day 4 of the @coppafeel trek with @mrsgifletcher. Aching, tired sore but today we have my gorgeous friend @gkx_carlos helping us with his contagious energy and fun.

"Also a charity very close to his heart. let’s go. Wish #teamamy luck. Love my team so much xxx we can do this team! Another day another Mountain to climb. Again thank you so much for all the love support and donations. Means everything #coppafeel."

Amy's new update comes after it was announced that a BBC film has been made documenting her battle with breast cancer. The documentary covers 15 months of Amy's journey from her initial diagnosis to getting the all clear.

It was also recently announced that Amy would be returning as a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing this year. Having taken last year off due to her cancer battle, Amy said she is "happy and grateful" to be back.

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year on BBC One.
