When you want banana bread but you also want a crumble, this is the recipe for you.

Recipe information

  • Yield

    1 loaf

Ingredients

1

1/2 cups all purpose flour

1

cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar

2

teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided

1

teaspoon baking soda

1

/2 teaspoon salt

1

cup mashed ripe bananas (2 to 3 medium)

2

large eggs

1

/2 cup vegetable oil

1

/4 cup honey

1

/4 cup water

2

1/2 tablespoons (packed) golden brown sugar

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour 9x5x3-inch metal baking pan. Whisk 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl. Whisk next 5 ingredients in large bowl until smooth. Add dry ingredients; stir to blend. Transfer batter to pan. Mix 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and brown sugar; sprinkle over batter.

    Step 2

Bake bread until tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 1 hour. Cool bread in pan 30 minutes. Turn pan on its side; slide out bread, being careful not to dislodge topping. Turn bread right side up and cool completely.

  • I've tried many different banana breads (always trying to find the perfect recipe without butter and too much sugar/fat) and I think this one is the perfect balance without losing the delicious flavour and texture at all! Delicious! I made it last week and will make it again this week

  • Wow. That's next level banana bread. Holy cow. I will echo what others have said: an hour isn't long enough. Definitely raw in the middle, but added another 15min and it was perfect.

  • This recipe was great! For my oven, I ended up needing to cook the banana bread for closer to an hour and 20 minutes. I also had a lot of extra for the topping so you could probably cut the portions for that in half. This was delicious though and my family loved it!

  • After 1 hour the middle was still raw? Did I do something wrong?
