Whoop Whoop! Our first batch of graduates are here! As part of our Women in the Workplace pilot project with Best Beginnings, 10 SME’s took part in the accreditation programme. Seven of these organisations received an accreditation after completing all six modules. The programme was live for six months and all managers were given access to the training provided. We are so pleased to announce these organisations are: 👉 Bippit 👉Property Market Analysis LLP 👉Missive 👉Astute Technical Recruitment Ltd 👉Total Media Group 👉Rotheras Solicitors LLP 👉Stripe Communications Find out more- https://lnkd.in/e6RdP6_h Some participant feedback: Sam (Astute) “The training videos have opened up important conversations with our line managers and encouraged them to think about how they approach pre, present and post pregnancy, pregnancy loss and family experiences with their teams. The additional resources are helpful in providing advice which can be referred back to after the initial training has been completed.” Accreditation participant “I like that each topic was covered separately. I think it’s important that whilst they are linked, they are all different and like that it encourages managers to think specifically to each topic. It’s also good to have a mix of delivery styles, as a visual/active learner the videos were great, but I have the pdfs to refer to as a reminder, or share with others”

Want to know what the Labour Party’s policy is on childcare? Well look no further because on Monday, I interviewed Bridget Philipson, the woman hoping to be the next Secretary of State for Education. I’d be interested to hear what you think. This is a series of interviews we are doing with politicians from across the political spectrum asking - what will you do for mothers if you form the next Government?

Non-Executive Director | Brand & Creative Strategy Consultant | Co-Founder | Trustee at Pregnant Then Screwed

The small but mighty Pregnant Then Screwed are looking to grow and diversify their board and this time we're looking for 5 new board members. It's a super exciting time to join but EVERYONE says that on here so here's a snapshot of some of the things we've been up to over the last few years:  ✌️ Supported 83,000 women 👋 Our work was raised in Parliament 29 times 💰 Secured £1.4m for those who experienced discrimination 🪧 Organised March of the Mummies where 15,000 parents marched across 11 cities in the UK to demand Government reform of childcare, flexible working and parental leave. 👎 Took the Government to court for indirect sex discrimination due to the way the self-employed income support scheme had been calculated. In the Court of Appeal we won and proved that the scheme discriminated against mothers in the way it was calculated. We're looking for a wide range of skills and lived experience to help us keep supporting women and moving mountains. We're super keen to see applications from those with lived experience of the issues we address, and including but not limited to: Black and minoritised people, dads, those with experience of living with disability either as a parent or parenting a disabled child, single parents, young parents and people from LGBTQ+ communities. More info on the link below. Closing date is Monday 29th April at midday. https://lnkd.in/eygSYte5 Sam Smethers Joeli Brearley Kizzy Gardiner Akeela Ahmed MBE Heather Taylor Anneka Ruff Molly Rowan #motherhoodpenalty #sexdiscrimination #PregnantthenScrewed #genderpaygap #pregnancydiscrimination #trusteerecruitment

Today we release our new data which is the latest awful detail in a horrifying pattern of discrimination towards pregnant women and mothers. 1 in 61 pregnant women say their boss suggested they have an abortion. Yes, you read that right. We found that more than half of mothers have faced some form of discrimination and 2 in 3 pregnant women say they have been subjected to comments about the way they look. As a result, 1 in 5 mothers have left their job. The thing is, employers and colleagues know they can get away with this. We do not have effective discrimination law despite recommendations which were published 8 years ago. Employers are not being held to account - fewer than 1% of women who experience pregnancy or maternity discrimination raise a tribunal claim; and no wonder when they only have 3 months making it virtually impossible if you’re pregnant or you’ve just had a baby. The time limit needs extending as a matter of urgency. We also need non-transferable properly paid paternity leave so that men can take time out to do their share of the parenting, making care a normal part of every day life, rather than an inconvenience done by apparently feckless women who aren’t committed to their job. Pregnancy & maternity discrimination is a punch in the guts for our economy, and for equality and we need a Government that will treat this issue with the urgency it deserves. We also need to change the rhetoric. Mothers are not a burden to your business, in fact the data shows that mothers of two children are the most productive people in your workforce
