Exciting news for the music industry! 🎵🚀 BPI (British Phonographic Industry) has teamed up with London & Partners and Grow London to launch Grow Music, an early-stage innovation programme set to position London as a hub for music tech, innovation, and growth! Grow Music brings together music industry leaders and innovators including Abbey Road Studios Red, Anthony David King, UKBlackTech, Measure of Music and Angel Investing School to support London-based start-ups and train new angel investors. Janet Coyle CBE, managing director of Grow London at London & Partners, said: “In London the creative industries, technology and finance intersect more closely than anywhere else in the world – making it one of the best places to start a music technology company. Fintech meets Sustainability 🌱 This week, we had the pleasure of hosting another community event bridging our fintech and sustainability communities for an engaging discussion on "FinTech for Net Zero”, in an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, build relationships, and share valuable resources. 🤝 Opening the conversation, Pru Ashby, our Head of Sustainability at London & Partners, welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of sustainability in the face of climate challenges and the pivotal role that financial services will play on London’s journey towards sustainable economy. Next we heard from ★ Madush Gupta ★, Principal Lead at the City of London Corporation, who emphasised that the UK remains a global leader in fintech investments and the significant role fintech can play in advancing the sustainability agenda. Following, we had a thought-provoking panel featuring Nachiketa Sharma, Vice President at J.P. Morgan; Emma Kisby, CEO EMEA from Cogo; and Kimberley Abbott, Founder and CEO of Vested Impact. This insightful discussion was expertly moderated by Oli Cook, CEO and Co-founder of ekko, and covered a range of topics, from ESG and impact reporting to green hushing, green investment platforms, and carbon offsetting.  🌟 No. 1 myth in the industry?  “Banks and traditional financial institutions are your competitors.” The truth is, we are not in competition; collaboration is the key. 🌟 And our biggest takeaway?  “Businesses don’t change the world, the people who lead them do.” We wrapped up the event with David Butcher, our Head of Fintech & Finance, who shared an exciting calendar of events for our community in the next six months. Grow London Global ❤ PeopleTech On Tuesday, we held an inspiring PeopleTech demo and knowledge sharing afternoon with 14 of our Grow London Global PeopleTech scale-ups and 41 esteemed guests from our community 🌟 We held a fantastic panel discussion moderated by Anton Sasson, where our speakers shared invaluable insights: 🔹 Paawan Patel from Pearson Ventures highlighted the growing importance of skills in the modern workforce and the need for better ways to assess PeopleTech efficacy and ROI. 🔹 Caroline Gregory of Oury Clark underscored the necessity for PeopleTech products to create a human connection, given their key users are people. 🔹 Junior Lewis illustrated the shift in recruitment pipelines from relying on credentials and social proof to focusing on transferable skills and employee development pathways. 🔹 Zoe Botterill explained the importance of ensuring PeopleTech solutions integrate seamlessly into clients' existing systems. A special highlight was Harriet Perks Soni from AND Digital sharing insights into their mission to close the digital skills gap. She discussed how this mission is facilitated by the skills technology from GLG member Nelson Sivalingam's HowNow, detailing their collaboration and the common challenges they face in enabling employee buy-in for upskilling, AI, and digital transformation. The latter half of the afternoon was dedicated to discussions among PeopleTechs, partners, and HR/L&P/Talent/People stakeholders, exploring potential collaborations and partnerships, and building valuable connections. London 🤝 New York City Last week, Grow London Global and Deputy Mayor of London for Business Howard Dawber headed to NYC, as we hosted the first ever UK-NYC Venture Connect Forum with CIBC Innovation 🙌 ✈ We headed to the US with 17 Grow London Global companies looking to expand into the region, to fully immerse themselves in the market for a packed-full 24 hours.
