🗓 Beyond 2030, we will see a vast development unveiled at The British Library by Mitsui Fudosan UK and Stanhope PLC. This extension will unlock large commercial lab spaces for growing #lifesciences companies, and is a prime example of putting international connection and academic co-location first. Located minutes from international connections to mainland Europe at St. Pancras international, this development will include public spaces and enable local engagement with life sciences and #healthcare. This will provide tenants with the opportunity to engage with local communities and benefit from proximity to The Francis Crick Institute and The Alan Turing Institute, thus supporting the growth of AI-based life sciences applications as the industry trends towards a growth in #TechBio and AI adaptation. https://lnkd.in/ezJgcAmD

🚧 London’s developers are putting the research environment first, ensuring top-quality lab specifications alongside a breadth of additional services and amenities. Cafes, shared work spaces, landscaping and creating an inspiring environment for research and development are exemplified by the likes of ARC | Advanced Research Clusters. For a #lifesciences research community, environment is important, with long and often out of office hours required in the lab for experiments. With this in mind, spaces designed with tenant experience as a central focus may be the differentiating factor for company and talent attraction. https://lnkd.in/ezJgcAmD

🏛 Victoria House (a partnership between Oxford Properties Group and Pioneer Group) is delivering #lifescience space to cater to scale ups, big #pharma and VC's. This will provide fit out by demand across flexible spaces of 30,000 ft2 floor plates from large pharma to early stage companies who can benefit from Victoria House’s incubator space for start-ups. In such a central location and co-located with Pioneer’s technology accelerator programs, venture building, and expert network, Victoria House is an elegant example of bringing London’s start-up ecosystem, access to finance, and AI excellence under one roof to offer a microcosm for growth in this Life Sciences capital. https://lnkd.in/ezJgcAmD

🏗 New developments such as Tribeca in the Knowledge Quarter will be some of the first #lifescience laboratories to come online in the next 2 years, offering a total of 600,000 square feet of laboratory space by 2026, an extension of the current 52,000 square feet which opened this month. Reef Group have announced collaborations with The Francis Crick Institute, and have also announced the London BioScience Innovation Centre (LBIC) as their first occupier, helping to build a tenant mix at the Apex that is world leading in Research & Development. https://lnkd.in/ezJgcAmD

In our new London Lab Showcase report, our five partners shared examples of the exciting #lifescience lab space development projects they will be undertaking in the coming years. London’s Knowledge Quarter benefits from proximity to Universities and major transport networks, which provides a consistent supply of spin-outs requiring local lab space with national and international connection. The cluster currently benefits from a high level of development, meaning plenty of brand-new, high-spec space opening to London’s ever-growing life science ecosystem. The Regent’s place development is a prime example of optimizing the proximity to University expertise by locating the 13-acre campus in the heart of the Knowledge Quarter. Recognising the critical importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange for growth and innovation in this sector, British Land has established partnerships with UCL, The Francis Crick Institute and the Knowledge Quarter to consolidate Regent's Place as an outstanding science and technology hub. 🔬 Yesterday we were delighted to officially launch the London Lab Showcase Report at Royal College of Physicians! Developed alongside our five sponsors British Land, Reef Group, Victoria House (a partnership between Oxford Properties Group and Pioneer Group) ARC | Advanced Research Clusters and Mitsui Fudosan UK, the report acts as a response to the MedCity Demand Reports of 2016 and 2021, outlining the high quality lab space being built in the years 2021-2030. The presentation began with a welcome from our CEO Dr Angela Kukula and Deputy Mayor of London for Business and L&P Chair Howard Dawber. Our Head of Cluster Development Ivana Poparic, PhD then outlined some of the key findings from the report with regards to lab space development, which was then followed by case studies from three of our sponsors: Pioneer Group (Miranda Knaggs), British Land (Michael Wiseman), and Reef Group (Peter Langly-Smith). After concluding with a Q&A, attendees then joined for a networking session to discuss the report with our team and with each other. A huge thank you goes to all survey participants who contributed to the report, our attendees, and our brilliant hosts at RCP!
