It wasn’t 12 years after the first Money in the Bank that we saw one of WWE’s female superstars climb the ladder and get their hands on the coveted briefcase. So far, we’ve witnessed six MITB matches by the female superstars. The seventh one will air this weekend ahead of NXT Heatwave on July 7, 2024.
Before we see the next superstar climb the ladder and etch their name in the annals of WWE, let’s take a look back at five of the best Women’s Money in the Bank Matches.
Here are the Women's Money in the Bank ladder matches
1) Women’s Money in the Bank 2021

Nikki A.S.H shows off Money in the Bank contract: WWE Network Exclusive, July 18, 2021

Back in 2021, Nikki A.S.H shocked the fans when she won the Women’s Money in the Bank match. Nikki, who had not found much success until that point, was up against some of the best wrestlers the business had to offer. She took on Alexa Bliss and Asuka both of whom have won the event in the past, and Natalya and Tamina who were the reigning Tag Team champions in 2021.
Liv Morgan, Zelina Vega, and former Smackdown Champion Naomi. Near the end of the match, there were three ladders in the ring with six contestants on top. While the others fought amongst themselves on top of the ladder, Nikki sneaked to the top and got her hands on the briefcase, making this event one of the most entertaining of 2021.

2) Women’s Money in the Bank 2020

The pandemic era has to be one of the weirdest and most interesting periods in WWE history. With the world burning around them, WWE had to figure out unique and inventive ways to keep the show going. Money in the Bank 2020 was hosted at the company’s headquarters. Once the match started, we bore witness to both male and female participants who sprinted around the Titan Tower.
Asuka leaped onto and slammed all the female contestants in the building’s lobby. While the others struggled to get up, the Empress of Tomorrow quickly made her way to the elevator and then proceeded toward the briefcase. Baron Corbin tried to stop Asuka, but she slapped him off the ladder, and the rest is history.
3) Women’s Money in the Bank 2018

Back in 2018 not many expected Alexa Bliss to beat out the likes of Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, Ember Moon, Naomi, Natalya, and Lana to lift the Money in the Bank briefcase. The closing sequence of the match saw the contestants try and grab the briefcase one by one for a total of 10 minutes.
Near the end, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch were the only ones still in the ring. Lynch outsmarted her friend, Charlotte, and slammed her to clear a path up the ladder. At this point, Lynch’s victory seemed certain, but Alexa Bliss had other plans. She came in out of nowhere, threw Lynch off the ladder, and grabbed the briefcase to claim victory.
While the match itself was phenomenal, what’s even more special is the fact that Alexa Bliss cashed in her contract just hours later and became the Champion.
4) Women’s Money in the Bank 2017

Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match: SmackDown LIVE, June 27, 2017

This was the first Women’s Money in the Bank event and featured superstars like Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Tamina, Carmella, and Natalya. Carmella got close to the briefcase multiple times throughout the fight but was met by one of her fellow stars and thrown out. Near the end of the match, James Ellsworth interfered and tried to help Carmella win. But, Becky Lynch had other plans.
Lynch threw Ellsworth out of the ring and was on her way to grab the briefcase. However, Ellsworth’s interference gave Carmella enough time to recover. She got back into the ring. Threw Becky off the ladder and grabbed the briefcase to become the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank winner.
Shortly afterward, Smackdown GM, Daniel Bryan, stripped Carmella of the briefcase, and a rematch was scheduled. Carmella just would not let go and went on to win the second match as well. She held the contract for more than 200 days and went on to become the champion.
5) Women’s Money in the Bank 2019

2019’s Money in the Bank match featured Bayley, Carmella, Dana Brooke, Nikki Cross, Ember Moon, Mandy Rose, Naomi, and Natalya. Nikki Cross started the match strongly and went after each contestant, attacking them with a ladder in her hand. The brawl went on for 16 minutes, and everyone was out for the count near the end.
Sonya Deville made a surprise appearance and lifted her friend Mandy Rose on her shoulders to carry her up the ladder. However, the power of friendship failed to prevail, as Bayley had made a full recovery by this time. She stood atop the ladder with Rose and Sonya, stared at them, and threw them off to claim victory for herself.
After her win in MITB, it only took Bayley around 90 minutes to cash in her contract and become the Champion. It is still one of the most exciting moments in Women’s MITB history.
