Drug safety has become an extremely important topic following the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, in the face of the ongoing war in Ukraine, ensuring the stability of drug supplies is as crucial as military security, due to the fact that most of API is imported from the East - it is not produced in Europe - what can be done to secure patients with lifesaving drugs? This was the subject of discussion during the panel at last week's II Polish-German Economic Forum.   Our Manufacturing Scientific and Technology Director, Dariusz Gurtowski, participated in the panel alongside Sebastian Szymanek, CEO of Polpharma, Anna Krzyżanowska, Head of Governmental Affairs and Market Access at Merck, and Przemek Grzywa, Cofounder of Revolve Healthcare. They all tackled the question: Does Poland have the potential to become a pharmaceutical logistics and production hub? From our perspective – absolutely! As one of the largest biotechnology companies in Europe - producer of API and Drug Products, we are already producing in Poland Recombinant Human Insulin and have the capability to produce recombinant protein but also to adopt new technologies through technology transfer, in accordance with cGMP requirements, produce #BioTech API and do the formulation, as a sterile liquid forms dosed into vials and cartridges. Drug safety procedures ensure the availability of drugs and key Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). This implementation of production technology in Poland, where factories, production capacity and experience in the production of life-saving drugs are already available, will ensure drug safety - patient safety. #biotechnology #drugsafety #logistics

We have exiting news to share from 84th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association! Two posters, based on studies performed at Polish clinical centres with recombinant human insulin produced at Bioton and Intesta Max, were presented at Sessions. Effectiveness and safety of human insulin treatment In elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Effect of butyrate on GI signs, SIBO, and Diabetes Control – randomized. Placebo-controlled Study in patients with type 2 diabetes. Today we had a pleasure to officially celebrate completion of our new project – solar panel installation. There’s no better time than sunny summer to complete this kind of project. This investment is another milestone in the list of our eco-friendly practices. Reducing carbon dioxide emissions was our goal for a long time and we’re incredibly happy that this installation will let us work a little closer in harmony with climate. The total power of our installation is approximately 1.8 MW – which covers part of our annual electricity demand. We would like to thank the whole team responsible for the project: Klaudia Wyszyńska, Ryszard Szweda, Anna Podniesińska, Mariusz Nasiadka, Jarosław Grabowski, led by Jolanta Lis & Michał Deptuch, as well as other divisions working on it – you did great job and we’re very grateful for it! So when we had a chance to accommodate visit from Department of Drug Technology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Medical University of Warsaw), we couldn’t say no! There's only one that important and that big conference on diabetology in Poland - Scientific Meeting of the Polish Diabetes Society. We couldn't miss an event of such significance! This year, which was 25th of this conference, we were honored to be bronze sponsor and for 3 days we had opportunity to learn the latest worldwide research in the diabetes treatment and technology but also meet, talk and - hopefully! – inspire other participants. Since at BIOTON we've been working for more than 23 years to manufacture recombinant human insulin from the biosynthesis of active substance to the final product and providing people with diabetes with high quality solutions - we had a lot to share. We are delighted that during the conference HCPs could hear the latest data of joint project of Biotts and BIOTON on the transdermal insulin. Dr. Paweł Biernat, Pharm.D., presented a lecture: "Alternative methods of delivering anti-diabetic agents using an innovative transdermal carrier”.
