Mabion S.A. at the H<a>CK FOR HEALTH Hackathon! 🚀 We always strive to be where talent meets innovation and science. We supported this year's Hackathon H<a>CK FOR HEALTH. 🌟 The event brought together 150 extremely talented and ambitious students from Lodz universities to create innovative solutions in response to the challenges of companies in the healthcare industry. H<a>CK FOR HEALTH Hackathon was a three-day sprint full of excitement, creativity, and intense work. Participants invented and implemented their ideas by working in interdisciplinary teams under the guidance of mentors from the medical, technology, and start-up industries. Our team was there to support and motivate them! 💡 As one of the sponsors, we set the participants a challenge: to develop a bispecific antibody. Our mentor, Edyta Bartusik-Czubek, supported the iQueue team by giving valuable tips and sharing her knowledge. The panel of representatives from scientific institutions and the business world evaluated the final entries. Julita Balcerek, PhD, MBA, IPMA C, Chief Operating Officer represented Mabion. 👉 Discover How Changing Host Cell to CHO can Enhance Biosimilar Drug Safety and Efficacy! The world of biotechnology knows how critical the selection of host cells is for the production of monoclonal antibody-based drugs. The gold standard in this context are CHO cells, but there are also known and used therapeutics based on other cell lines. The decision about host cell line impact on the qualitative characteristics of the obtained monoclonal antibody including its glycosylation profile, which directly affects the biological activity of the drug. 💊   When we develop a new therapeutic, we can choose a host cell line from solutions available on the market. But what if we want to develop a biosimilar drug? Do we have to choose exactly the same host cell line that is used to obtain the original monoclonal antibody?   🔸 Our team has published data showing that changing host cells does not necessarily exclude the biosimilarity of the obtained drug, and may even positively affect its safety without reducing its biological activity. Presented study shows, that IgG1 antibodies formed in CHO and Sp2/0 cell lines have no significantly different amounts of non-fucosylated species that are critical for biological activity of the antibody. What is also important, antibodies formed in the CHO expression system are characterized by lack of Gal-Gal structures, and the lower level of NGNA structures. Mabion Without Secrets! 👉 Today, we would like to introduce you to the work of a division that plays a key role in our company's functioning and ensures that Mabion runs like a well-oiled machine! We are, of course, talking about the Qualification Division. 😊 What exactly does the Qualification Division do at Mabion? What makes it different? What candidates are we looking for to work in this area? 🔸 Patrycja Szkudlarek, Qualification Division Manager, gave us the answers to these questions: "On a day-to-day basis, we work with all departments in the company to ensure that equipment, control measurement apparatus and auxiliary installations are constantly under control. We are part of the Maintenance Department, and our team currently consists of five people. We carry out qualification, i.e., we demonstrate that equipment or auxiliary installations are correctly installed, are operating correctly, and that their operation leads to the expected results. Not only are we responsible for carrying out inspections and qualifications according to a set schedule, but we also receive and recall equipment and respond in the event of equipment failure. We are very much in tune with each other in our team, and good working relationship is our greatest strength. We are one of the few divisions that work with all departments in the company. Every user of any equipment knows the employees of the Qualification Division because we are the ones they contact in the event of a breakdown. The dynamism of the work and the wide range of responsibilities mean that we work strongly together within the division to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves. The ability to work with experts from different fields and extend our knowledge beyond biotechnology is a great opportunity to broaden our skills and competencies. I think anyone who would like to work with us has to be, first and foremost, highly team-oriented. We enjoy each other’s company, respect each other's experience and expertise, and are keen to learn new things. 📅 On 25 June, we hosted a Merck bus next to Mabion's headquarters in Konstantynów Łódzki! 🚐   💡 Merck Life Science on Tour is a mobile conference and trade fair stand that reaches out to customers across Europe, showcasing the latest equipment, technologies and expertise in the development, production and pilot scale of biopharmaceutical substances. Dedicated specifically to Product Development, MSAT, Manufacturing, Technical Operations, Quality Assurance, Procurement and all interested parties, this initiative proved to be an extremely valuable event for our team.   🔸 Our employees had the opportunity to experience directly the latest Merck Process Solutions products, both well-known and new products. Merck experts gave a series of presentations and discussions, deepening our understanding of current technical issues and regulatory requirements. Topics such as sustainability, challenges in ensuring continuity of supply and innovations in the production of biopharmaceutical substances were in the spotlight.   One of the highlights of the programme was solutions for the various stages of biopharmaceutical production: USP/DSP/FORMULATION & FILLING. We discussed challenges and solutions in the upstream, such as Mobius Breeze, cell culture media and supplements. In the downstream, we focused on clarification, chromatography, tangential flow filtration, viral safety and viscosity reduction platforms. Single Use solutions for blending, sampling, final filling and formulation were also of particular interest. 🙌   Our meeting with Merck was not only an opportunity to expand our knowledge, but also to make new contacts and strengthen our collaboration with one of the market leaders. The winners of the "Safer at Mabion" health and safety competition have collected their prize! 🚗 🏆   Their task was to make a video in the company space depicting an emergency situation, an accident at work or a near miss.   👉 On 25 April, the winning team took part in an eight-hour training course at the Driving Technique Improvement Centre in Sieradz. Implementing the new eQMS system for superior quality management 🙌   We are proud to announce that our company is taking a major step towards the computerization of its processes by introducing the eQMS system, which allows for faster and more efficient management and supervision of documentation, trainings and audits within the pharmaceutical quality system.   🔸 The system went live this month and will be gradually expanded to cover all essential quality processes.
