Combining technology & psychology for meaningful impact 🌟

❓How about a break❓ At Fairsight, we believe in putting the candidate experience first, and our innovative ability test do just that. I'm excited to highlight some datea from our candidate-centric feature: the ability to pause the test for breaks. 🎉 Our data shows that this feature is a game-changer: 🌟 30% of candidates have utilized the pause feature to take a break. 🌟 On average, candidates take a 75 second break. You can use 3 minutes if you want. 🌟 Most candidates use the pause feature once during their test. 🧠 Why is this so important? We understand that cognitive performance can fluctuate, and providing the option to take a break can help candidates stay fresh and focused, leading to a more accurate representation of their abilities. Benefits of a break: ✅ Reduce test anxiety: By allowing candidates to pause and take breaks, we help mitigate the pressure and stress often associated with continuous testing. This leads to a more relaxed and authentic performance. ✅ Solve for distractions: Life happens. Whether it's a phone call, a doorbell, or just needing a moment to clear your head, the pause feature ensures candidates can manage distractions without impacting their performance. ✅ Face validity for real-life problem solving: In real-world job scenarios, complex problem-solving often includes opportunities for short breaks. Our feature mirrors this reality, making the test experience more realistic and fair. Here’s how it works: 💪 Flexibility: Candidates can pause the test at any point to take a short break between tasks. This ensures they can recharge and return to the test with a clear mind. ⚖️ Fairness: Our goal is to provide a level playing field where all candidates can perform at their best, without the pressure of continuous testing. 👌 User-Friendly: The pause feature is simple to use, integrated seamlessly into the test interface. 🤝 We believe that a more relaxed candidate is a more authentic candidate. This approach aligns with our commitment to fairness and innovation in the recruitment process. So, next time your asked to take an assessment and feel stressed or not at your best - how about a break?

We are proud to be a part of and support the important and impactful work that Mats Wernheim and his team are doing with Jobbfestivalen - Tema Mångfald & Inkludering. Merging psychology and technology to identify human potential

What an amazing group of people to be on stage with! 🤩 On Tuesday May 21st, it was time again for the highlight of the year in terms of DE&I initiatives in the Nordics. Jobbfestivalen - Tema Mångfald & Inkludering, The Job Festival, took place in Kungsträdgården, Stockholm. Jobbfestivalen is Sweden's largest job fair, with a clear focus on diversity and inclusion. It is also a job-matching initiative, with the goal of establishing connections between organizations who are conscious about the ethical aspects of their talent acquisition, and job seekers who, for various reasons, have struggled to find their right place on the job market. Thanks to the efforts of Mats Wernheim and his team, more than 20,000 people have attended the two previous Jobbfestivalen fairs in Stockholm, and over 1,500 people have secured jobs or education placements as a result of it. This year, I had the pleasure of joining a panel on the topic of evidence-based recruitment, ethics, and AI, alongside industry leaders Emira Blomberg from Refapp, Fredrik Törn from Hubert, and Alex Tidgård from Grooo. The panel was brilliantly moderated Malin Freiman Moezzi. And of course, Fairsight was represented among the exhibitors. Thanks Mats Englund for spreading the word, and staying on top of it! If you are serious about DE&I, consider paying Stockholm a visit for next year’s Jobbfestivalen fair. And don’t be surprised if Mats brings this initiative to Oslo, Copenhagen, and Helsinki too in the course of the next few years. This is social entrepreneurship at its best. 👏 #fairsight #hiring #talentacquisition #responsibleai

🎓 Honors program students dive into AI at Fairsight 🤖 In my previous post, I introduced our new interview module and highlighted our commitment to innovation. Today, I'd like to share an important aspect that I overlooked - our collaboration with a talented group of students from the Honors program at the University of Oslo. 🔬 Under the expert guidance of Fredrik Asmaro and Cato Alexander Bjørkli, these students have spent the past two months analyzing Fairsight's use of AI in the interview process. This diverse group, representing fields such as mathematics, social science, biotechnology, psychology, and computer science, embodies the interdisciplinary approach essential to advancing assessment technologies. Such collaboration is exactly what the field of assessment needs. By bringing in expertise from different fields, we are ensuring a comprehensive and responsible integration of GenAI into assessment. I'm thrilled that these students are supporting Fairsight's approach to AI by providing valuable insights and suggestions for improvement. 🙌 A big thank you to this talented group for their hard work and dedication! PS: The picture behind the students is illustrating «autophagy» in AI-generated pictures of faces. Autophagy refers to the self-reinforcing cycle where AI systems increasingly consume and propagate their own synthetic outputs at the expense of human-generated data. This could lead to a loss of diversity, entrenchment of biases, and bottlenecking of LLM performance improvements (Yang et al, 2024). 🔄 #fairsight #responsibleai #innovation

TELL ME WHY? When conducting a structured interview, how rigid should it be? Is it ok to probe deeper with questions like "Tell me why?» or is it better to adhere strictly to the scripted manual? On Tuesday we’ll set the spotlight on the job interview at our Fairsight Future event. We‘ll cover: ✔️ Status quo in terms of research ✔️ The use of new technology ✔️ Appropriate and inappropriate questions ✔️ Practical challenges that remain unresolved 🌟 Additionally, we're excited to unveil our new interview module on our assessment platform. This tool is designed to make anyone a world-class interviewer. It's particularly beneficial for HR departments who aim to delegate the interviewing process to line managers, helping large organizations streamline their hiring process and empower their managers. 😱 Due to unexpectedly high interest, the event was triple-booked (!) in no-time. Fortunately, we’ve been able to reorganize the venue at Oslo Science Park, so that we’re able to fit everyone in. I would recommend you to show up early though, if you want a good seat. Thank you for your overwhelming interest and understanding for a crowded house on Tuesday 🙏

Our CEO, Espen Skorstad, has been interviewed by the Norwegian national broadcaster, Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) about the use of AI in recruitment. See his post below where he also gives our take on AI in recruitment 👇 PS! For our Norwegian speaking friends, the NRK article is in the comments 📝

Merging psychology and technology to identify human potential

🎤 In an interview with Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) yesterday, I was asked about the use of AI within recruitment. Here is my background: A wrong hiring decision costs an average of one and a half years' salary. CEOs cite recruitment as the third most time-wasted process of all, following emails and meetings, estimated at “40% wasted time.” As if that weren't enough, the effects of poor hiring practices are far-reaching: from highly educated immigrants spending nearly 9 years trying to secure a job that matches their qualifications, to the alarming statistic that only 10% of the world's top executives are women. Not to mention the age bias that labels people in their mid-50s as "too old». Often this is due to poor recruitment practices. There is huge potential for improvement - and AI can help. At Fairsight, we believe that awareness of the ethical use of AI will increase, not least as a result of the new EU regulations on AI that are about to be introduced. Our view is that AI will make recruitment processes more efficient, but for now it should be used as a co-pilot, as a supplement to humans, and not for automated decisions about whether people should get a job or not. 🔝To move this field forward, we need effective human oversight that combines insights from psychological, legal, philosophical, and technical domains . It's with this belief that I shared my thoughts with NRK yesterday stating, "I have full confidence in the use of technology as a support tool, but that requires that there are professionals with their hands on the wheel". Link to the entire interview below. #fairsight #hiring #responsibleai
