Full time: Vikingur Reykjavik 0-0 Shamrock Rovers

That's it from the Víkingsvöllur Stadium, where the Premier Division champions have earned a hard-fought draw.

It was a really solid display defensively and, after the harsh sending off for Darragh Nugent, their job was made that bit more difficult in the closing stages.

Johnny Kenny could have nicked a famous European victory late on, but Hoops boss Stephen Bradley will surely be happy with the result ahead of next week's return leg at Tallaght Stadium.

Hoare goes into the book for a handball and the home side will have one more chance from a free.

With the numerical disadvantage and with several tired bodies, Rovers are under the cosh.

Agnarsson rises highest at the back post but he can only send a header into the side netting.

From a corner, Fjoluson directs his header over the bar and Rovers won't be in a major hurry to restart the game.

However, Vikingur go forward again and Gisli Thordarson heads just wide after good build-up play.

The fourth official holds up the board and we will have five more minutes after the 90.

Vikingur go close as Djuric gets his free-kick up and down but it's narrowly wide of Pohls' post.

Chances at both ends during these final stages.

What a chance for the Hoops!

Johnny Kenny shows real pace to race onto a ball out of defence and, with just the goalkeeper to beat, he sends an effort over the bar.

The Hoops goalkeeper takes his time over a free-kick after Darragh Burns is fouled, and he will go into the book.

Out of possession, Johnny Kenny has dropped back into midfield and the ten men of Rovers have a big task on their hands for the remainder of this game.

Disaster for Rovers as Darragh Nugent picks up a second yellow card.

The midfielder feels a nudge in the back from Gunnarsson and goes down slightly easily. He's booked for diving and that seems to be an extremely harsh decision.

Josh Honohan appears to have cramp, but he will be OK to continue.

Meanwhile, the latest Vikingur corner is flicked off target by Agnarsson.

If Shamrock Rovers can hold out for a draw, it will be a fine result to take back to Tallaght.

Brilliant play by the recently-introduced Johnny Kenny, who picks up possession and runs straight at the the opposing defence.

The Sligo native drills the ball towards goal, and it's a couple of yards wide of the post.

Vikingur continue their tactic of launching crosses in from wide – substitute Ari Sigurpalsson the latest player to do so.

The home side have amassed 14 corners and while Shamrock Rovers remain under pressure, they have so far matched their opponents when defending the set pieces.
