Debut at DragonX (2020)[edit]
Keria initially made his start into the competitive scene through the trainee program from DragonX. Together with Jungler Hong "Pyosik" Chang-hyeon he eventually graduated from the program and was fielded as the starting support for DRX in the 2020 season. Also putting him together in the Bot lane with veteran AD Carry Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu. [1] The roster first made their debut at the 2019 KeSPA Cup where they finished in 3-4th.
Keria together with DRX thew newly built DRX had a solid start in the Spring Split of the LCK, ending the group stage on a 14-4 record, which ended in a three-way tie between Gen.G Esports, T1 and DRX. DRX However lost out on tie breakers and was ultimately seeded in third. In the Playoffs they managed to beat DAMWON Gaming 3-2, but ultimately lost to T1. With MSI cancelled that year, Keria however did make it to the replacing Mid-Season Cup. Again DRX found themselves in a three-way tie in their group. However they lost both their tiebreaker matches against Gen.G and JD Gaming. Knocking them out of the tournament early.
For the following Sumemr Split, Keria and DRX kept the same roster, and continued their path in the top of the LCK. This time finishing in second in the regular season. In the Playoffs Keria and DRX faced off against. GenG Esports, winning the series 3-2 to place themselves in the finals. In the finals however they were swept by DAMWON, ending their split in second place. With their second finish, DRX did secure enough points to directly qualify for the 2020 World Championship, meaning that Keria had made it to Worlds in his debut year.
At Worlds they were able to finish second in their group, beating out the teams from the LCS and LEC. However at the Playoffs, they once again found themselves facing DAMWON, who again would sweep DRX 3-0. With this loss Keria's first Worlds run came to an end in 4-8th place.
A New Start with T1 (2021)[edit]
Following the conclusion of the 2020 season, Keria along with the other DRX players parted ways with the organization. [2] Soon after it was announced that Kera had signed with T1 on a multi-year deal to be their new starting support. Joining Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong in the Bot lane. [3] Despite some struggles at the start of the season of the Spring Split, Keria and T1 managed to end the regular season with a five game winning streak to secure a spot in the playoffs. In the playoffs they won over DRX 3-1, before being eliminated by Gen.G Esports. Following the season, Keria was voted in the "All-LCK First Team" and was nicknamed "The Genius Monster". [4][5][6]
A Perfect Regular Season and Almost Striking Gold (2022)[edit]
Coming into the 2022 season, Keria and T1 made a dominant start to the year as they started the 2022 Spring Split. During the regular season, T1 was able to achieve a perfect run, ending the season on a 18-0 scoreline, a first time for any team in the LCK. T1 continued their success into the playoffs, sweeping the Freecs 3-0 to qualify for the Grand Finals, where they managed to beat Gen.G Esports 3-1. Keria had now won his first LCK title, and qualified to his first ever MSI. Keria was also crowned the MVP of the split, making him the first ever support player to do so in the LCK. Keria also broke the record for the most assists in a single split, a record that was previously held by Lee "Wolf" Jae-wan. [7] Keria also extended his contract for another year with T1 near the end of April. [8]
"Honestly, I though about Sang-hyeok when I saw Min-seok crying. It resembled the Sang-hyeok of 2017 so much. I felt just how badly, even desperately, he wanted to win."
A World Champion (2023)[edit]
At the 2023 World Championship Keria and T1 came in as ths second seed from the LCK, and would make their way through the Swiss Stage by only dropping a game to Gen.G Esports. Following their advancement they first had to face of against LNG Esports from the LPL, who they were able to sweep 3-0. Their next opponent was JD Gaming. A team that was looking to complete their "Golden Road" and were seen as the favourites to win the tournament. However, T1 was able to come out on top in the series with a 3-1 victory, with Keria being awarded as the MVP. With their victory, Keria entered his second consecutive Worlds Finals. This time being faced with Weibo Gaming. T1 dominated the series and swept the final LPL team 3-0. With their victory, Keria had won his first worlds title.
