Hanwha Life Esports is a Korean esports organization.

History[edit]

Hanwha Life Esports entered League of Legends esports by acquiring ROX Tigers' league spot and line-up ahead of the 2018 LCK Summer Split. [1] They made their debut in a 1-2 loss against Griffin, before eventually failing to qualify for playoffs with a 10/-/8 record in the regular season. SoHwan, Bono, Tempt, Lava, Sangyoon and Key would be the roster representing the team in the 2018 KeSPA Cup, where they lost against KeG Seoul, a roster consisting of Doran, Ellim, Plex, Gumayusi and POP. This resulted in a first round exit, placing 13-19th.

For the 2019 Spring Season, Hanwha Life Esports signed Thal as a new toplaner, replacing SoHwan. They would remain as a middle-of-the-pack team, placing 6th in the regular season and once again narrowly missing out on playoffs, this time with a 9/-/9 record. In the 2019 Summer Season, Moojin moved to the starting roster over Bono, which resulted in the team placing 9th in the regular season. This meant that Hanwha Life Esports had to attend the relegation tournament, where they qualified for The 2020 LCK Spring Season by beating both Team Dynamics and Jin Air Green Wings in the lower bracket. Hanwha Life Esports rebuilt the team ahead of the 2019 KeSPA Cup, with CuVee, Haru, Zenit and Lehends joining the team. They qualified for the playoffs round by beating ESports Connected and KT Rolster, but lost in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 loss against champions Afreeca Freecs. For the 2020 season, Lava returned to the starting roster to replace Zenit. Despite their promising performance at the KeSPA Cup, this team ended the regular season in 8th place with a 6/-/12 record. In the 2020 Summer Season, Viper joined the team as the new AD Carry. This line-up only managed to win 2 games in the entire season, placing 9th ahead of only SeolHaeOne Prince.

Ahead of 2021, it was announced that the LCK would move into a franchised league format, with Hanwha Life Esports being 1 of 10 teams to be selected. Ahead of the regular season, the 2020 KeSPA Cup allowed the team to show their new line-up for the first time, consisting of Morgan, Arthur, Chovy, Deft and Vsta. The team qualified for playoffs after going 2/-/2 in the group stage, and beat Gen.G Esports in the round of 6. IN the semi-finals, they lost against champions DAMWON Gaming. This roster exceeded expectation in Spring, placing 3rd in the regular season ahead of T1. With the roster staying the same ahead of Summer, Arthur was replaced by Willer halfway through the season. Hanwha Life Esports placed 8th in the summer season, with a 7/-/11 record. Despite this, they qualified for the Regional Finals due to their placement in spring, and with victories against SANDBOX Gaming and Nongshim RedForce, Hanwha Life Esports managed to qualify for Worlds 2021. After only losing against LNG Esports in play-ins, they secured a spot in the group stage where they placed second following a tiebreaker loss against Royal Never Give Up. In the quarter finals, Hanwha Life Esports lost 3-0 against T1, resulting in a 5-8th place finish in their first ever international tournament.
