We are excited to release our third comprehensive Responsibility Report, showcasing our environmental and social initiatives from 2023. Highlights include: Decarbonization and Climate Action: We achieved a 17% reduction in our CO₂ footprint and a 19% decrease in carbon intensity, thanks to partnerships with Climeworks and Klimate.co. Circularity and Product Longevity: Repaired over 13,000 Mammut products globally, while our Loopinsulation project turns polyester waste into insulation for jackets. Social Responsibility and Community Engagement: Launched the Responsible Business Conduct policy and teamed up with partners like Protect Our Winters Switzerland, American Mountain Guides Association, and ClimbAID to support ethical practices and community involvement. Transparency and Accountability: For the first time, we are presenting comparative year-on-year data from 2021-2023. On May 8, 2023, Maya Chollet, journalist and Mammut ambassador from Vaud/Switzerland, performed an extraordinary act of bravery on her way back from work. Hearing cries from the banks of the Arve river in Geneva, she rushed to find a man and woman struggling in the water. Without hesitation, she plunged into the icy river, fully clothed, to save them from the strong current. For her exceptional bravery, Maya received the gold medal from the International Rescue Society of Lake Geneva, the St. Christoph Medal from the Swiss Life-Saving Society, and the Medal of Honor from the International Carnegie Foundation. Maya's story is a powerful reminder of the impact one person can make. Her courage and compassion inspire us all to act decisively in critical moments. Mammut X UNLESS Collective X POW: Protecting the mountains together! Last December, UNLESS Collective and Mammut proudly announced our second collaboration on a limited-edition collection for International Mountain Day 2023. Each piece, 100% plant-based and plastic-free, represents our commitment to preserving our beloved mountains. At the time, we announced that we would donate all the profits from the collaboration to Protect Our Winters Switzerland (POW). Last week, we made good on this announcement by handing over a further contribution to POW, which tirelessly advocates for climate protection and the preservation of mountain ecosystems. We were delighted to host Maren Stöber and Nicholas Bornstein from POW at our headquarters in Seon for the handover with our CMO Nic Brandenberger and Sponsoring Manager Anita Herger. In the world of business, we often celebrate success and overlook failure. Yet, it is in our failures that we find the most profound lessons. Recently, Adam Ondra, Mammut athlete and renowned for making the most difficult climbing routes look effortless, attempted a challenging 9a route at Cueva Negra in Montanejos, Spain. Despite his extraordinary talent, he faced a setback when a marginal kneebar broke, causing his foot to tangle in the rope. Although he did not fall, he recognized that even a momentary assistance from the rope meant he had not truly succeeded. Adam's decision to stop his attempt, despite the bitter pill of acknowledging the aid, underscores a critical principle: honesty with oneself. In business, just like in climbing, the path to success is rarely straightforward. Adam's story reminds us that integrity is paramount. We must be honest, not only with others but, most importantly, with ourselves. This commitment enables us to take out the learnings from any failure and builds trust and credibility, essential components for long-term success.
