Rob Sneed is an award-winning journalist who joined the WAAY team in December 2023 as Weekend Evening Anchor/Managing Editor.
Prior to WAAY, Rob reported for WGN-TV in Chicago, Illinois. He spent two years covering breaking news and stories for both local and national media outlets. There, Rob covered many national stories including protests and civil unrest following the officer-involved shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
In 2017, Rob reported in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, for WCMH. For more than three years, he reported on stories that created change in his community. There, he was the recipient of the 2017 Ohio Associated Press award for Best Investigative Reporting for his coverage of the way parolee’s GPS devices are monitored.
Prior to his work with WCMH, Rob reported for stations in St. Louis, Missouri, Cleveland, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio, and Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Of all of Rob’s accomplishments, he’s proudest of being a good man. Rob always puts others before himself, especially his family. Shout out to “Grandma Sneed” who raised him and his older sister Charmaine as her own.
Rob has a passion for many things, including being an advocate for mental health awareness.
He’s most excited about getting to connect with North Alabama and trying all of the local eateries - He loves to pig out!
