After reading that Eclipse was choosy about who it let into the bar, we decided to dress up, the ladies in nice dresses and heels and men with long trousers and classy long sleeved shirts.
We arrived at the bottom of the lift at the Eclipse, there was a small queue. The lady controlling the lift was elegantly dressed in a black cocktail dress, constantly on the phone and scrolling through her IPad, giving the impression that the bar was busy and selective.
She was only allowing one set of customers to e enter the lift and it took a while for the small queue to disperse into the lift and up to the bar.
The groups in front of us were all well dressed, although some men were in shorts and shirts, so we felt we had made the right choice in our dress.
So we were a bit surprised when we got to the bar to see the majority of the customers in casual shorts and t-shirts, far removed from the ‘classy’ dress code that was supposed to be in place. The bar was reasonably busy but not full.
Eclipse has an unrefined urban feel, decor is quite stark and I did not get any sense of glamour or sophistication. We all ordered different cocktails and unfortunately were disappointed with them, they were very weak with little flavour. When the server bought them up to us, we could not taste much difference in each cocktail and were unsure if we had each been given the right drink. We could only tell by the fruit topping each cocktail as to which one it was.
The bar is offering their own unique cocktails but I think they need to go back to the drawing board and revisit the recipes or stick to the classics until they get them right.
The view from the Skybar is good, this was probably the best part, but we went to Eclipse expecting the full experience of great decor, good cocktails and fabulous views, unfortunately one out of three, is not what I was looking for.
We finished our drinks and left the bar. When we got downstairs the queue was longer, but I was getting the feeling that it was all being controlled to give the impression they could afford to be choosy but the reality from what we could see when we got upstairs is that they accept anyone prepared to spend their money!

Great view but the service let’s it down. After staying in many W Hotels around the world the service here just left us feeling our money wasn’t good enough for them as the server just kept asking how we where paying. Rather than other a second round of drinks we where asked cash or card.
When he bought over the second round before even allowing us to take a sip he was again asking cash or card and had the card machine on his tray.
They have a dress code but it isn’t applied if your ordering massive bottles of grey goose vodka.
The best advice is avoid this bar and use the one in the lobby, same drinks, cheaper prices but more importantly staff that actually are helpful and friendly.
When he bought over the second round before even allowing us to take a sip he was again asking cash or card and had the card machine on his tray.

Completely overrated, not at all what we expected. Yes the view is great, but that’s really all this bar has going for it.
Had to queue at the entrance of the hotel for half an hour to get in, really no problem with this at all, however the way in which the security spoke to those waiting was not nice at all. Eventually when we was allowed indoors there was another queue inside that we had not been told about!
Finally we made it to the 26th floor and the view was amazing, however we walked into the bar and it was tiny, nearly all the seating was saved for VIP so nowhere to sit unless you are prepared to pay for the VIP drinks package with a minimum spend. As soon as we arrived the very few remaining chairs were removed by the bar staff as apparently the small area where you stand to order drinks is the dance floor. Two cocktails came to 29 Euros, so all in all a very disappointing, underwhelming night.

Very rude staff. A group of 8 of us came, all women, dressed up but a couple of us in dressy flat sandals. We were looked up and down and rudely told only those in heels could enter. Some of us went up because we had come to the hotel specifically to go to this bar and the others went for a drink in the outdoor bar. We got upstairs, sat down, and noticed the people next to us were wearing casual shorts and dirty trainers. Another girl at the bar in a crop top, jean shorts and trainers!? One of us went back down to query this and were just told "yes that's correct". One of the other girls tried to take a photo by the window in the bar and was rudely told to step back because we couldn't go in that area. They need to get over themselves, the bar is very small, crowded and definitely not as nice as it appears. We went to the outside bar instead which was much nicer!

The only saving grace for this bar is the view. The drinks are very expensive. The place feels quite dirty and seedy which is weird when it’s within such a classy hotel. It isn’t set out at night like the photos show it has a silly VIP area where they need to realise it’s a small bar and completely restricts the feel of the place. They try making it into a nightclub at night but must realise it’s way too small for this and should just try to stay as a bar. If you are going here I would only recommend going for 1 drink just to see the great view then leaving after unless this bar changes the whole feel and experience of the place.

We ordered veggie sushi, and brought tuna sushi to the table even when questioned, we were told it’s definitely vegetarian. My mum’s vegetarian for religious purposes, and they made her eat fish.
I only realised this when I went to go pay for the bill (which I had to get up and pay for, as the service was ridiculously slow). Carlos the manager said the ‘waiter is new’. Maybe train your staff? Or hire people who don’t talk rubbish if they aren’t sure of answer?
Carlos offered to remove JUST the tuna sushi off the bill, eventually he removed the food off the bill and charged us for the drinks.
Service was slow, it would take 20 minutes to bring a drink when it wasn’t even busy.
Sushi and gyozas arrived, and I had to ask for chopsticks and tissues.
WORST experience at a W hotel ever.

Came with a few friends, we’d all taken the time to dress up nicely, following the strict dress code of the bar. On arrival we were treated rudely by all staff members, a lady at reception didn’t allow us entry- stating that you had to be 21 years old to enter, we had checked this online beforehand and the policy states that 18 year olds are permitted. When I told her that we checked online, she simply shook her head, and was unable to get up this simply untrue policy. We all felt embarrassed and ashamed having to walk out again, simply because we didn’t look rich or posh enough to be there. It ruined our plans for the evening.

Yesterday I was celebrating my birthday with some friends David attended us and I have to say that it was a great service. He gave us some shots with flares, it was a great detail on his part that made our night special.

So we WALKED from beyond the cathedral. Wanted a nice drink with a view before dinner. We were there around 7:30 and were told we cannot go up because we don’t meet the dress code and one of us had a carry pack. Not a big backpack but one that holds water, sunglasses and phone. In all I can find, it never states that there is a dress code. And of course the woman who kept us from going on the elevator gave us the “no no no”. We weren’t going to stay until after dark. Just up for 1 quick drink. If you go, call first and inquire about the dress code! (It is a nice walk along the beach, tho).

Love this bar, amazing cocktails and great music.
The DJ was especially good! Service was great and the young girl was very attentive. The view of the beach at night was amazing. Good vibes!
