Thank you Angama for creating a truly fulfilling experience of Kenya - I stayed at both of Angama's fabulous top 5 star properties. The stark contrast in landscape and diversity of wildlife blew me away ! My convenience was top priority for Johnny, and Rita of Angama booking a direct flight to the Mara for the 4 spectacular nights after experiencing Angama's newest property at Amboseli! I was astounded everyday by the views and the animals and the kindness and care of all the people there working as a team to manifest lifetime moments!
My guide came to meet me at the airstrip - Ekidorn and he was all about being a top notch guide giving me a chance to tailor my experiences everyday to which animals I wanted to see most. Also the professional photographer Robert joined me again for amazing photos of the Jaguars, Chita, and Lions that make the Mara Triangle so amazing! I'm not a photographer but Robert managed to solve that for me with the most awesome journal in pictures of everything we saw! Not worrying about the photos also gave me the freedom to experience the sightings fully!
I did not visit during the Migration because there are plenty of animals in March especially lots of newborns - and I wanted to be there without the crowds and the heat! It was exactly as I wanted even more perfect for me than I could have imagined. I was able to witness the full cycle of life in the food chain, it was emotional and shocking - 3 Chita brothers in a coalition took about 3 hours to decide on a target, stalk and strategically bring down an impala, after they ate the best parts, the vultures, hyenas, and jackals took over - one hyena took off with the prized impala horns - like a trophy! Sights like this you never forget, and thanks to Ekidorn's patience and skills in spotting everything and my prized possession my Nikon binoculars it was clear as in a widescreen movie!
The tent-rooms are top of the sky high glamping, and staying there was like in a dream with the proverbial Out of Africa bathtub over looking the escarpment from the all glass windows that open to a lovely veranda to sit outside - after your bath sitting there donning the luxury cotton Masai cloth sarong or bath robes provided is epic! Of course with a Masala tea - for me with almond milk and Masai honey!
As a vegan I was treated with respect and care and the on site organic gardens provided me with a cornucopia of fresh greens and veggies to my delight! The chef whipped up magic for me even for my game breakfasts and picnics - as I'm mostly in the bush with Ekidorn from the crack of dawn - as he's as much an animal fanatic as I am!
I rediscovered the joy I had as a child here in Africa, and I came back to being me again! Thank you Angama ! I will be back!
