The resort where we stayed is on the Lake which provides lovely views, especially the sun sets.
There are plenty of sailing yachts and boats on the lake. It is man made and there are areas that have ‘artificial’ sandy beaches. It is about 48 kilometres in length and has a maximum depth of 38 metres.
There is plenty of wildlife to see such as Herons, Egrets,Kingfishers, Falcons, and Capybaras.
There are 3 bridges that cross this huge lake the most notable is the JK ( Juscelino Kubitschek) Bridge built in 2002.
The highlight of any visit must be the sunset!
Fantastic view Restaurants around, boats , nautical competition, skiing, nautical sports, and we can see a awesome sun sets. Also a lot of clubs around the lake.in the weekend there is the Pontão where they have a lot of restaurants too and a place for footing.
The lake is the center of Brasilia, and very important to really enjoy the city. If you're visiting, go to the "Pontao", or during August, "na Praia", to have the fell of how people in Brasilia compensate for the lack of a real beach. If you have the chance, do a boat ride, is a unique chance to see the city from a different angle.
During our city tour in Brasilia we crossed the Lago Paranoa in the van. Its an artificial lake made during the construction of the city. Residential areas and the official residence of the president are located in the vicinities.
Clear waters. Nice for paddle boarding and swimming (in protected areas only so you don't get run over by a boat!)
Not very crowded this time of year.
It is one of the largest artifitcial lakes in Brazil, build with the purpose of providing some humidity in an other wise dry city. It is beautiful. A walk around the lake is not only good exercise but the breeze is cooling and the sound of water calming. There are a few restaurants around which seem to be popular. They were crowded when i went, but I admit I have not tried anyone of them. Entry to the lake area is free and it overs a great view of the buildings from one side. Do see the famous three arches bridge from here.
