Positive comments..Extremely close to the beach and many other things to do within walking distance. Restaurants, little shops, bars and of course the beach. Also staff was very helpful friendly.
Negative comments.. Room smelled old and musty. Bathroom was not clean, toilet so close to the sink you could go to the bathroom and brush your teeth at the same time. Bed not comfortable, tv and phone did not work. Then we had planes flying over the hotel all night long very loud. Also the walls seemed very thin. Heard the neighbors tv and the man yawning in the next room and my husband thought I was snoring but it was not I. Recommended it if you want to be close to a lot of things but do not recommend because of the all the negative I had to say.

San Diego doesn't have a ton of choices for oceanfront. This is a good choice. Only negative to the ocean "front" is that you need to cross the street to get to the beach/water. Two lane road, slow traffic, still only steps away. Bedroom and bathroom were tiny but they got the job done. Mattress was wonderful. Courtyard was very cute. I was apprehensive about walking to restaurants. There were a lot of street people. But we treated each other with respect and all was well. Front desk staff was very friendly.

My wife and I have stayed here many times when visiting San Diego and will be again literally just a few weeks after I write this review.

For a surprisingly low price for California, you get a good quality room (all the rooms were recently renovated) with a comfortable bed, a really cool courtyard (last time I was there I was working remotely and it was a very comfortable place to do my work!), a lovely balcony view of the ocean, and easy access to many great things in OB, least of all the Pacific Ocean just across the street! The staff is friendly and helpful as well. And if you need a quick and easy snack, just run down to the lobby and buy an ice cream sandwich or something. Pretty good deal!

The only reason I don't give this hotel 5/5 is...there's no elevator. Which I guess is fine because my wife and I each have two working legs, but it's a royal pain to lug heavy suitcases up to the third floor after a four-hour flight.

Oh...and the place is dog-friendly, too! I miss our beagle when we go on vacation, so it's nice to get to live vicariously through other peoples' pets!
