Visited South Portland and spend the night in this HoJo. Pluses were nice clean rooms, friendly staff and a good location The only negative was our neighbor was noisy but that’s not the hotel’s fault Comes with a free complimentary breakfast Wish the indoor pool had a hot tub but not the case Rooom has a nice mini fridge and microwave
The Howard Johnson in Portland was very clean even though it was older. Staff was fabulous. They had a nice breakfast as well. It was next door to a great restaurant that they recommended. I think it helped that it was a Wyndom.
This wasn't a great hotel but there wasn't any problems with it either. We made a last minute booking for a one night stay before meeting a friend for dinner in Portland. The room was clean and comfortable. A basic breakfast was included as well.
One night stay. Lobby seemed nice, room was very dated and a super long walk from the parking lot, up three stairs with our luggage, not a fan of the luggage stair struggle. It seemed that they are doing partial room remodels and our room was in a mish mash of phasing. Wood look vinyl floor with the old rug trim along the floor, very weird. Large lighted mirror over an old sink. Just super odd. Wyndham needs to spend some money here.
We stayed one night for a concert in the area and it was awful. There were no smoking signs everywhere, but the smell of smoke was so overwhelming like half the place was smoking cigarettes. We went to our floor and it was even worse. I couldn't breathe at all. The window opened in the room but the screen was hanging off. There were "masks required on premises" signs everywhere, but maybe a handful of ppl had them on during the time we were there. Doors were slamming all night and ppl yelling in the hallways. Breakfast was ok, but there are about 4 tables in a tiny room. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but I would have wanted to know this info before staying here.
