One of the worst hotel I’ve been

The resort looks huge but the room is small (and it was a deluxe one!) and the bathroom even smaller!! And not very clean. If you have a room with an odd number, it’s one the first floor, no elevator.
The A/C stopped cooling the room after a few hours, and moved to fan only. It was a room anymore, it became a sauna!!! And quite noisy.
Toilets got blocked, water all over the place. If a guy came very quickly to unblocked them, the lady who was supposed to clean the water came after 1h and 2 reminders to the lobby.
Lobby where you have 4 desks but always only one person…
For a total of USD 350.-, they debited the card 3x (90, 120, 140), so I’ve got 3x fees…
Ducks/birds were swimming in the pool!
Dont use the attractions desk! They said they have discount prices for Universal, but only if you listen to a minimum 2h conference to sell you holidays trips, and they give you wrong informations about the park opening hours!! There’s a free shuttle for Universal studios. For Disney, if you have Uber, it will be much cheaper than their shuttle.

1st room smelled of smoke and some sort of bug on night stand. Rooms look nothing like online. Front desk doesn't answer the phone. Recvd no housekeeping even when requested. When housekeeping came, they only removed dirty towels that we put in a pile and garbage. Had to drive to front desk to request clean towels/washcloths. Horrible service-DO NOT STAY HERE!! When I complained, they "refunded" $69 which I am still waiting for.

Rust in the shower, mold/mildew in the A/C vent (strong odor), ants on the TV stand and wall. Small spiders in the bathroom sink and counter. We had to move to another room three times. Talked it over with the hotel manager and she was extremely rude and nonchalant about our horrible experience...

The venue, food and AV services were excellent. I would especially like to commend Jorge Torres (Director of Banquets), Eduardo Rodriguez (Banquet Captain) and their staff were AWESOME! Also top notch was the AV Team headed by Cameron Pilz and included Taylor Thompson, and "Cam 2". Nick Brooke (Director of Operations) was also super attentive and made sure that everything was going well.

This hotel is in desperate need of an update and better security. I moved my family out after one night as I didn’t feel it was a safe environment.

The room was very dirty. Tacky feeling carpets, outdated and utterly filthy under and behind furniture. There had been no cleaning under or behind the bed for some years.

The hotel is not fenced or gated so anyone can enter the property at any time or place. The grounds are basically wide open for any member of the public to roam. Guests were smoking weed at the poolside, throughout the resort buildings and the guests in our neighbouring room were smoking weed on the balcony and inside their room and their smoke was entering our room from the air conditioning unit and the connecting bathroom vent all night.

The pool was loud and groups were playing their own explicit music over the resort music. There was no security presence to challenge this.

I used the Laundry facilities at 9pm and felt very unsafe. The communal doors didn’t lock so anyone could enter the buildings through the night. People were hanging around in corridors and also in the outdoor spaces, especially so after dark. I suspected illegal activity taking place and felt threatened. Upon attempting to contact security, I discovered the phone lines in my room were faulty and there were no communal lines in the building.

This used to be a fantastic resort. Having stayed a number of times before, I am disappointed to see how the hotel has declined and I now don’t intend to return - which is a great shame.

Wyndham can correct this by refurbishing all rooms to match those featured in the website, improve cleaning, and most importantly invest in better security.

That said, the grounds are beautiful. Lovely ponds, plants, flowers and wildlife. The hotel has potential to return to it’s former glory but the staff need the necessary support and investment to get there.

The photos on here from 2015 are outdated. There is no hot tub by the large pool, the other hot tub is broken, the lagoon is not clear blue but dark brown and dirty, there is no shop or children’s park, there are only four sun umbrellas left and two of those are broken.
The rooms are dated and warn. The air conditioning in the rooms is hit and miss.
The room cleaning is very very poor and the bar staff are rude.
Cannabis was being used by the pool by some several times during our stay but security staff were never about when needed.
This was our second stay at this hotel. In 2018 is was much much better. Such a shame as the location is ideal.
