Resort is OK, Anything having to do with the timeshare is a nightmare.

Reviewed Feb 7, 2022
We were assigned a handicap accessible unit in building 1 although it was not requested. It turns out that the Bluegreen reservations agent who helped us book when we were having trouble with the website made the mistake. We found the unit depressing, noisy, and really inconvenient. Even though we were on the 7th floor, the noise coming up from the pool was so loud we couldn't enjoy our balcony. The kitchen was modified for handicap accessibility which left limited counterspace and no breakfast bar area. We planned to cook during the week so this was important to us.

After several attempts to get a different unit and several PROMISES that someone would follow-up we finally managed to get a nice place in building 2 on our second day. (BTW: No one ever followed up, we had to chase them down.)

We enjoyed the big pool. It's kept at a really pleasant temperature. However, if we weren't there right as it opened, we had considerable difficulty getting chairs or loungers. People unabashedly put out towels early to claim a space for when they return later. It was a real problem every day of our stay except when the weather was miserable so virtually no one was using the pool.

We found several good restaurants in the area and enjoyed the easy access to a large grocery store. The only food/beverage items we bought at the resort were two run runners. They were something like 13.00 each plus tax and were the worst run runners we've ever had. They were really unpleasant but it was our fault for not complaining.

We also made the mistake of going to an owners update in order to get the $100 pre-paid card and see if there was anything new worth learning about. The presentation was nothing other than a full-court press sales pitch full of misleading information and actual lies. They repeatedly told us that if we bought 11,000 more points (needed to make it to gold and unlock the "great new features") it would barely change our annual maintenance fee. Haha. The 11,000 points would cost 778.00/year in addition to the purchase price of $41,250. But don't worry, they'd be willing to finance the purchase at 14.9%. LOL

Considering that this week at The Fountains cost us 13,000 points, a $41,250 purchase of more points wouldn't even get us another week here. The annual maintenance fee for the points needed for each night of our stay is $131 (not including the base fee). Meanwhile, a 2 bedroom unit at The Fountains is available on Agoda for $166/night. Seems like the $41,250 purchase price would get us a 35.00 per night discount. Not exactly a great deal.

In fairness, they claim there are also a lot of amazing new features that would be available if we bought more points, that somehow make this all a good deal. They talked so fast that we couldn't understand how those features paid off and we weren't allowed to take their presentation notes. If there's any truth to their numbers, you'd think they'd take pains to make a clear presentation and allow us to hold into the information, so we could make an informed decision.

Because we've heard you can buy points online for less, we looked at Pinnacle Vacations (Bluegreen's authorize distributor) and found points ranging from $0.26 without charter benefits (can be used to book vacations, but don't count towards silver/gold/platinum status.) Points with charter benefits cost as little as $1.36. So, we wonder why anyone would buy them here at the resort for $3.75. Are we missing something?

We also learned from our online research that we actually own specific days of the year in a specific unit at specific resorts. We felt stupid that we didn't know that until we mentioned it to other owners who were also in the dark.

If we happened to own desirable weeks at resorts we'd be interested in visiting, we could book them between 11 months and 1 day to 13 months out -- guaranteed at the original rate. In our case, we didn't pay any attention to the specific deeds we bought so have no interest in booking the units available to us. Pity we weren't made aware of that at the time. We were just focused on how we could use our points system-wide.

So, in conclusion- if you get a nice unit, The Fountains is a nice resort in a very handy location. STAY AWAY from the presentations. Your time and sanity are worth more than the $100 they pay you.

Appears the units were recently redone and very nice. Convenient location to tourist attractions. Did not use the amenities at the resort as to cold, but there are plenty of outside amenities to use in warmer weather.

This is a large resort with several buildings. When we checked in we were put into a unit that was falling apart. We complained and were moved to another unit that had dirty electricit plate coverings, dirty kitchen cabinets, what appeared to be mold in the bathroom and several other things. We complained again and after two days we were moved to a much nicer building. They have a limited number of "nice" units, so be aware. I had wondered after reading lots of reviews why they were all over the board. It became very apparent after we saw three different buildings. If you are exchanging through RCI, make certain that you show them the pictures and get what you paid for.

So, after another bout of numerous unhappy experiences dealing with your company, we decided we are going to let you all know how this company handles things. All of our meetings with the timeshare included the promise of great get-away vacation spots. The opportunity to book months in advance. Free get-away weeks. Able to sell our weeks/points to pay maintenance fees. 90-minute meetings lasted a minimum of 2-3 hours. Multiple salespeople presenting this is something wonderful and the ability to pass it down to our children. Sale people agreed to work side by side with us to book and manage our points effectively. What we got was the Inability to book resorts 15 months in advance as promised. Told we were in the top 1% of owners and wouldn’t have any issues in book anytime anywhere. When booking our reservations we were promised certain rooms but upon arriving at the resort this wasn’t true. Requested rooms group for family events we were not close to each other or same floor. Special requests 15 months in advance for a presidential suite in a certain building were not meet was put in a presidential suite without a working stove, outdoor grill and foldout couch. The "ability" to leave it to our kids, wasn't a choice, they were going to get that handed to them either way no matter what their choice was. We could spend less money vacationing outside of our timeshare and actually be able to book a trip at the times we wanted to go. The exchange rate through Choice plus or RCI was almost triple the rate and was subpar, to say the least. The maintenance fees are a financial burden for anybody since they rise each year. Resort managers were extremely unsympathetic to our needs. We arrived at certain resorts, and our rooms were unclean from previous guests. When reporting an item/equipment not working properly the maintenance would say “Oh we know it doesn’t work and has never worked” but yet it was specifically requested in our reservations. Then, when reaching out to get rid of this since nothing we were promised happened, we were told there is nothing we can do. You signed a contract. You owe us money. They offered to settle for an astronomical amount that was laughable. Mike Yosamel from the timeshare was just trying to get any type of money he could. We have major issues with Bluegreen and how they sold us. We are constantly forced to go to presentations on our vacations and all they try to do is sell you more and more points since we "didn't have enough to vacation how we wanted." With the number of points we have, this should not be an issue. We are continuously let down by this company and continue to this day. We will keep fighting for a release in any way we can. We wish we never came into contact with Bluegreen or their salespeople. They will pressure you until they can not anymore and ultimately you cave. Making the deal sweeter and sweeter. When they know you will not get what they are promising. We have nothing good to say about this company. Word of mouth is looked at highly in these times. We will continue to use our voice until something is done in the matter. We are not a game to be won. We are not pawns to play with. This needs to be corrected and fast.

We wanted to give anyone who reads this may be a bit of insight on this timeshare we were sold before you purchase. We hope this helps you. We are both 68 years old and we have some health issues. We have been getting a little pushback by trying to get out of this. The taxes and maintenance fees are astronomical for anyone to spend for what you get. We were also made to believe in our presentation that the maintenance fees we would not be paying them the rest of our lives. We are also terrified that our children will be forced to take on this debt/fees once we are gone. We do NOT want them to take this on. It is like we are forcing them into debt without even knowing it. One thing that really had us not happy is we wanted to travel to the Lofts in Tennessee where our original purchase was, and they told us we could. Never once were we able to go there. Were there some good vacations? Sure, however, it wasn't exactly what they advised it would be. After some time you realize where the misleading facts that the sales representations lie.

If it were our recommendation. Do not sign a contract with them, unless you are able to read it BEFORE signing. Do not put your pen on the paper without reading it. If we were able to do that then we may have a different decision.
