Good resort for a family stay, definitely recommend it

Reviewed Oct 30, 2023via mobile
We enjoyed our stay here. Spent time prior to booking researching various different Disney hotels and we landed on this one for a few reasons…the relatively small resort size and the room size vs the more budget hotels being the main ones. Those were definitely two pros, the room was a good size for a family of 4 (2 adults, 11 year old and 8 year old) and the smaller resort size meant no long walks to transport. We rarely waited a long time for transport and I think only once was a bus full, the smaller resort definitely helps with that. The pool was fun and the kids especially enjoyed it. Food options were ok, the pizza was nice and possibly the best value we saw across the entirety of Disney. I’d definitely recommend staying here, there’s no major cons except maybe things starting to look a bit tired and it’s not full on Disney themed (although I actually liked that).

We spent a long time looking for the best Disney hotel for the budget and to suit all of the family. We cannot recommend this place high enough. It is quiet, there is little noise and it is a cooling, soothing place after the parks. The bus routes and buses are fantastic and mean that you are completely connected to all of the areas, with the added value of the boat rides to Disney Springs.

The room itself is large and has two doubles within it and a double sink bathroom.

The staff are friendly and helpful.

The food was variable, some nights were better than others and a la the rest of Disney on the pricier side. Beignets are amazing but massive and filling. Caution one beignet is more than enough for most...

We have never seen a pool with 5 lifeguards on duty but had water slides, water play park and jacuzzi.

Forget the razzmatazz of some the louder and brasher hotels, this has become our must stay place.

Room tip: Avoid a riverside room, maybe pricier but the boats don't stop until 11 pm. Choose garden room on blocks 4,5,6

Just arrived home from 4 day stay at Disney. I’ve been to Disney 20 times and this was the most enjoyable relaxing resort. Staff were helpful. Great for elderly. Pool is great and supervised. Can’t wait to see new renovations made to pool. Only suggestion. More normal American food choices at food court

We were so excited to be returning to this hotel for the 4th time.
From the moment you step off the bus you are transported into the jazz atmosphere of Port Orleans. The hotel and staff always go above and beyond with their warm and friendly manner and by adding special touches such as the surprise birthday gift for my wife and the magical touches set up by the housekeeper.
This year we were in room 4317 which was located in a quieter area of the resort which we prefer, and ideally located close the Disney bus stop and main food court. We could also see some of the nighttime fireworks from Epcot from our floor.
The Disney transportation service is great. We used the buses everyday to enter the parks and particularly enjoyed the boat service to Disney Springs. We also booked a horse drawn carriage ride around the resort at night which was beautiful.
I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough!! Unfortunately we were unable to book to return to the French quarter next year through our tour operator however we managed to book the sister hotel Riverside for Sep 2024.

I did a lot of searching to find the perfect Disney resort to suit our family and thus one was perfect! Quiet, great facilities, easy transport options to the parks and Disney Springs - loved it! Rooms were spacious and clean with a nice outlook on gardens. We were in building 5 and highly recommend this for closeness to everything but still quiet. Ate on site one night and was okay but so easy to get to Disney springs so no drama. Beignets are amazing! Pool was great too - clean, spacious. Could not have been happier with our stay.

Room tip: Building 5 is great for access to everything but still quiet

We haven't been here since our daughters were youngsters. Now, as locals, we decided to do a bit of a Staycation just to get out of the house for a few days. POFQ was our second favorite Disney resort (WL always has been our fave) and had been here several times. Check-in was friendly and quick as we talked a bit with the desk clerk about his and our adventures as we are ex-cast members. The room was incredibly clean and less than a five minute walk to the main area/food court/bar/cafe. We had a garden view across from the laundry and if I am correct, a room we had stayed in previously. The room now has manufactured flooring instead of carpeting (a smart move for cleanliness). The beds were comfortable enough and there were extra pillows and blankets. The TV pronounced "Welcome" to us with our name on the screen every time we turned it on. The bathroom was spotless. The rooms were considerate moderate though they seemed a bit smaller than I recall (then again we were used to larger rooms as the girls got older and we stayed at WL). We decided to use the Disney transportation system and the buses were quick and efficient and often the resort had its own bus (sometimes sharing with its sister resort, Riverside but always we were first on and first off). We took the boat ride to DS and it was comfy, though slow as we passed the tree houses and there is a new drop-off location from the old days when you were let off by Rainforest. We walked around the beautifully themed resort and noticed all the details. The store at the main entry was small but had enough merchandise for browsing. There is a walkway to Riverside if you are so inclined. The food was adequate though not the best, except for the wonderful Beignets which you now have to get from the cafe'. There is the infamous entertainment in the lounge from Thursday thru Sunday but we missed it only staying three days. We didn't go to the pool but it is as we remember with a large slide for the kids. We were greeted every time by the wonderful CMs we walked in the entrance or as we walked around the wonderfully landscaped grounds which were reminiscent of old New Orleans. We still can't get over how well-maintained the resort is after all these years as well as the immersive theming. It was so immersive, for the few days we visited, I could have sworn I noticed the visage of two little girls running down the street ahead of us with excitement on their way to a day of adventure; and then I smiled.

Room tip: Ask for building 5 unless you want a river view.
