So this is our review after spending 14 nights at OCT! Like many after seeing other reviews saying the worst we dreaded arriving but PLEASE anyone worried don’t be as it was anything but what we dreaded!

Check in - check in was quick and the room was cleaned daily no complaints. We had a sea view balcony😁

Beach - yes the seaweed was there for the whole time of our stay, we did not swim at the hotel beach but did walk up the beach to the right if you were stood facing the beach. After a 45-55 min walk you reach Puerto Morelos which is a small fishing town and the beach is a lot better there. The weather was great except two days one more overcast and the other a day of rain. Dont focus on the forecast or you’ll expect rain everyday.

Hotel food- Sensai the Japanese restaurant was my favourite as the chef cooked it all Infront of you and had a joke with the table whilst cooking it was fun. We enjoyed all restaurants except the indoor Italian. The buffet wasn’t spectacular but come on 🤷🏼‍♀️ there was something for everyone and we were never left starving! More than enough to choose from.

The drinks were great there wasn’t any drink you could not ask for and the bar men were the best at making all cocktails!

Trips out of the hotel 1- coco bongos is a must what a show! we went to the playa del Carmen one. 2- Cancun was crazy so if you like to party head there. 3- Isle of mujeres - see Ricky round the pool to book the catamaran as this is the most amazing beach you will see! Amazing day trip🏝 4-Puerto Morelos - we ate at la sirena which is a mix of Greek, steak, seafood, burgers and was so good! Also ate at the Indian restaurant Namaste and that was great food, the town has a supermarket there which is super cheap and has most things you could need. 5- We visited xel-ha and Spent the day there including swimming with the dolphins. It was a little pricey for what you got but a good day out 6- we also went to Kin-ha which included quad biking, zip lines and cenotes for only 40 dollars per person which was a great day! See Gerardo in Puerto Morelos to arrange that. Lastly we visited playa del Carmen fifth avenue which is 10 blocks of bars and restaurants which we enjoyed.

Taxis- we always booked our taxis through the bell boys. We always felt safe and the drivers were friendly and helpful. They usually waited for you whilst you ventured out which one driver explained they are only our resort taxis so they wait for you as they cannot pick up any other people except our resort.

Shout outs- shout out to Ricky from the excursion desk around the pool always so helpful and friendly and booked us great days out. Henry round the pool couldn’t of been there enough for us for drinks etc. Carlos, Jesus and Gustavo at the pool bar for great drinks and Gelledos the restaurant manager, a lovey man who was always so welcoming.

Everyone on holiday/ vacation were so friendly and we made some great friends. We stayed by the pool bar swimming pool (chill pool) each day we stayed in the hotel and everyone got along so well which was nice.

All in all before coming to Mexico I had never seen hospitality like it! Wow.
