Rm 5308, not privilege, bowling and teen club in adjacent bldg, 2 min walk to bars/restaurants, pools and beach; no door to bathroom: biggest complaint, weird, romance killer, can hear bathroom sounds. Room in Adults Only area. Balcony hidden from view by large tree, private, but can hear adjacent balconies. Very comfortable, 18” firm queen mattresses in 2 beds room. Room bathtowels were soft and absorbent. Minifridge stocked daily with water and beer, Heineken, DosXX, Sol, is free/included in all inclusive. Room service 11am-11pm, after 11pm is not included in all inclusive, about 30 minutes to the door, delicious. Main restaurant is closed from 11-12, may want room service food, if hungry 11-12.
Bowled 3 times, sign up at bowling, usually a 30 minutes wait. Has a full bar, small, but relatively unknown and not busy.
Excellent pool bar, enjoyed the cabana drink. Enjoyed the hammocks, quiet, always open, laid reading a book sipping a drink.
Patio and beach chairs were claimed early and reserved with towels that were rarely removed by staff, lame for late morning risers from the west coast. Found open chairs i. The afternoon and evening when east coasters were seeking an early dinner.
Beach seating was comfortable, soft sand, drink staff came by regularly.
Nightly shows at the waterfall.
Avoid the Marina and Route66 restaurants, food was not turned over and service was poor.
We scheduled 2 excursions with Amstar, also used Amstar to be picked up and returned to airport. Excursions may have been cheaper for same trips offered by 3rd party companies via ‘watersports’ company near main pool. Signed up for excursions with the them, too. Recommend you sit down with Guest Services in the main lobby and plan out your week; I mistakenly waited a couple days and could have packed more in with better planning.
Highly recommend the free bike ride to Puerto Morelos, excellent. Ride granny bikes with a basket to the town a few miles away in a guided group, set off on your own to shop for 1 hour, then return ad a group. Easy ride, town has a supermarket for items less expensive than the resort giftshop eg watershoes. Schedule with Guest Services.
Highly recommend the 1 hour snorkeling excursion from the beach, $50/person, they provide gear; guided. Schedule at Watersports at pool.
Also did the atv, zipline, snorkeling and Isla Mujeres catamaran snorkeling/shopping excursions via Amstar; expect to be in a van for over an hour each way, so dress comfortably, you can change when you arrive and leave and storage lockers are available at the atv excursion and bring a beach bag to Isla Mujeres. Both trips were fun. The atv trip fed us in a camp cafeteria with food better than some of the resort’s restaurants. Both trips will take the majority of your day. We left early times both trips, temperatures were fine.
Japanese restaurant was a tepanyaki type similar to Benihanas, but our favorite by far was the outdoor Italian with table side flambé cooking, excellent. Ate there twice. Expect about 90 minutes meal. Dress well.
Was told only the Japanese restaurant required a reservation, but was not informed until our last night that each of the restaurants will make a reservation; a 4 top walked up and was seated when we had already been waiting 45 minutes for a table at the Mexican restaurant; the patron told me how he had made the reservation and was not prestige level; he had done the same each night at different restaurants.
Overall: Recommended resort, we had a terrific trip. Hope you do as well.
