Lovely hotel, staff very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Very clean and reasonable price for drinks, snacks etc. Very central and walking distance for everything and metro just opposite.
Local cafes, bars, and restaurants .

The hotel and staff are wonderful, the bedrooms perfect for a few nights stay, clean and comfortable, but my only complaint is breakfast, it’s plentiful and well laid out, but it’s bland, the scrambled eggs so rubbery and tasteless I noticed as soon as they replemished the old eggs stayed in the same metal container and scraped into the new…yuk…I am a fussy eater and found it hard to find anything that wasn’t bland and tasteless..I would not recommend due to the poor quality of breakfast.

Great value for money. Friendly and welcoming staff on reception. Rooms were very clean, comfortable and spacious. Complimentary shower gel and hand wash, lotion. The coffee shop downstairs was handy for morning coffee and fresh pasties . Also open on an evening with alcoholic drinks as well as coffee and soft drinks. Good location only short walk to plaza mayor

This hotel was booked for me through one of the universities so I could attend a work meeting. The location is great - not only right by the Puerta de Toledo, but also a short walk to other places of interest. And a Metro stop, as well.
Staff were very good - check-in was friendly and efficient. The hotel has clearly been refurbished recently and looks quite modern. My room was on the 7th (top) floor. The room was fine, except that the only window is a skylight - not to my liking but I was only there for a short stay. Comfortable bed, bathroom fine - great shower with good hot water.
My biggest gripe, and hence only 3 stars, is the poor sound insulation. Unfortunately, the door to the room offers absolutely no sound insulation from the corridor - every footstep can be heard, as well as doors opening and closing. Other guests weren't noisy but it felt like I was on the corridor rather than in my room.
Similarly, the sound from the neighbouring bathroom was very obviously audible - to a level that what I heard was rather more than I cared to discover about other guests' digestive processes (and I'm sure their feeling may have been similar...). This is really a big minus for me - even if earplugs firmly in both ears, there was still more noise than I've encountered elsewhere.
Perhaps it was the fact that this was on the top floor and other rooms are less bad, but this does put me off from returning, despite all the other positive aspects.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Puerta de Toledo very much. The hotel itself is very nice, rooms are clean and comfortable. Location of the hotel is also very good. It will be my first choice next time I go to Madrid.
