The hotel could be improved by providing bin liners inside the room and a balcony. I also think breakfast should be included. Apart from that our overall stay was good.

Our stay at this hotel was good.
When we arrived we had to wait a little while for our room to be ready as we arrived early (which we expected). When checking-in we were told that city tax charges had gone up but had not been informed of this before. It has gone up to around €10 per night.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the beach and a 10 minute walk from the local metro station which takes you into the city centre. The nearest bus stop is a 5 minute walk which takes you up towards the marina/harbour.
Transport links are quite good and you can purchase transport tickets at the metro station.
We had the room only option so did not try any food here. However breakfast is €20 per person per day if you want it. There are a few bars/restaurants a 2 minute walk from the hotel who also serve a nice breakfast for cheaper.
We stayed on the 8th floor and had a side sea view which was nice. However, there was a lot of building work going on until after 6pm on the 10th floor but it sounded like it was directly above us. When mentioned to the reception team there wasn’t much they could do about it which wasn’t that helpful.
Overall it was a good stay but the the few downfalls mentioned above did affect my rating on this place.

We regret to hear that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations, such as the absence of bin liners and a balcony in the room. While our hotel design does not include balconies in order to maintain the architectural harmony, we take note of your preference. As for the bin liners, we strive for sustainability, but we understand the convenience they offer and will consider this feedback for our housekeeping procedures.
Regarding breakfast, we would like to inform you that it is not included in the room rate to provide our guests with a flexible choice, yet we offer various packages on our website that include breakfast for future stays. Nice rooms, good breakfast, good service in the reception and Lobbybar.
Poolbar not always open, lobbybar closed during day, not good isolated between rooms and hallway, a lot of noise.

Reception at this hotel is a very weak link.
Hotel reception called me as I was waiting to board to say the hotel was overbooked and they were either going to put me in a central Barcelona hotel or cancel my reservation. They then said that Expedia had only sent the reservation through 15 minutes before which was untrue as I had (a) received an email confirming my requests from the hotel reception a month beforehand and (b) called both central reservations and the hotel reception to confirm my reservation with them two days beforehand and they had found the reservation with the Expedia reservation number, I told them to listen to their telephone recordings and the girl gracelessly said “we will do our best to accomodate you”. An appalling start to a holiday.
The day before I left I agreed with reception that I could keep my room on until 1pm. Just after 12 on departure day reception called demanding why I wasn’t out of the room when check out was at 12 noon. I said I had agreed 1pm and a note was in my reservation. There was a pause the girl apologised.
Lack of communication and outright lying by saying they had not received Expedia’s reservation.
And picking on a single woman traveller. Truly? Could not recommend this hotel because of this.

Great hotel, around €40 each way from the airport.
Decent location and L4 metro is a 15 min walk which will get you around easily (when not on maintenance shut down!)
Try and coincide arrival for 3pm as you can’t get in before then. Reception staff 100% spot on, helpful and friendly. Same with breakfast staff and cleanliness, brilliant!
Bar staff a bit cold, but not enough to write anything negative.
Overall very good and served as the base for a good trip
Room tip: Don’t arrive before 3pm

4 nights away with my son at the occidental. Lovely hotel, staff are really welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had the room only option. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The cleaniess of our room was of a high standard and cleaned everyday if you left the sign on the door handle. Breakfast was available if you chose to dine there.
We had a sea view which was nice. Transport links are a short walk away, a large shopping centre about a 7 minute walk. Supermarket and restaurant a couple of minutes walk. We dined at the tango grill (next to the hotel) and you had the option to take away. plenty to see and do in barcelona just make sure you have comfortably footwear as there's alot of ground to cover!
For 21 euros you can get the t-usual ticket this lasts for 30 days and you can use it on the airport train, metro and buses within the city zones. Nou camp ground is under construction (which we didn't realise) so only museum tour available. All in all we had a wonderful time and we would choose this hotel again if we visit barcelona again.
Room tip: Wear comfy shoes!
