Nice stay close to La Rambla

Reviewed Sep 18, 2023
We stayed at Hotel Sant Augusti and really liked our experience. The hotel was nice and clean. Regular rooms are compact, but efficient. The beds were comfortable and the room featured an authentic stone wall and Juliette balcony from it’s original build over 140 years ago. There was an in-room safe and a small fridge. Nice updated bathroom and modern decor. We thought it might get loud because we were so close to La Rambla, but it was calm in the evenings. We were literally a few buildings behind la Rambla and a 5 minute walk (if that) from La Boqueria. There is a plaza directly in front of the hotel, connected to Sant Augusti church (Parròquia de Sant Agustí) with little cafés and the locals would gather in the morning and you would hear chatter and laughs. Our room was directly facing this plaza and we had the sun facing us in the morning, very pleasant. We did not have breakfast there as we were so close to the market, but it is available as a small buffet. In the evenings, there are some homeless people that sleep close to the church, but they never bothered us and we didn’t feel ‘’unsafe’’. This place is a 6-7 minute walk to Plaza de Catalunya, close to the hop on hop off bus stop and lots of merchants if you want to do some shopping, but also lots of soliciting. There are nice restaurants close by and we would definitely go stay here again. The staff was very nice and courteous.

Lovely hotel for its location just off Las Ramblas, close to beach marina and metro, you are right in the thick of the all the action, best place to eat was just round the corner at “Homuus & Co” and in the opposite direction best ice creams at “Sweet Gaufre” and la Bouqueria are me of europes best food markets on your doorstep, getting back to the hotel, they serve an ample offering by way of continental breakfast, plus scrambled eggs, Spanish sausage and Spanish bacon - no beans!! Rooms and hotel is spotlessly clean and staff are polite, helpful and courteous. Please don’t be put off by reviews that scaremonger about it being in a dodgy area, yes there are homeless/alcoholics/druggies/mental health, but isn’t there wherever you go these days, just have your wits about you, always plenty of police around which is more thank I can say about UK, book and enjoy everything Barcelona has to offer

Stayed here B&B basis for 3 nights with my cousin early June. From the airport take the airport bus, cost €7.50 per person. Stops right in the centre of Playa de Catalunya. About 2 minute towards Las Rambla. Once on the Rambla
it’s about a 10/12 min straight walk to the hotel, you will pass the Carrefour Supermarket, further down the famous Boqueria Market, keep walking straight down, look for street called Carrer de lHospital (Hospital street). Turn right
into the street, walking straight down, you will come to the Square, hotel in front.

Room on 4th floor overlooking the square. Beds comfortable, air condition worked well. Toiletries and hair dryer supplied. Breakfast okay, hot & cold food, selection of juices, tea and coffee. Room cleaned well.

Like all other reviews printed the Square is full homeless people & drunks. There are cafes and take away joints around.
3 nights cost €674. This is my 4th visit to this hotel from the many times I’ve visited Barcelona over the past years, when the hotel had a slightly different name.

Cleaning ladies very polite, young lady in the breakfast room polite and friendly, female in reception, unfriendly, found it hard to get a smile. First face of contact, need to work on this!

There is a new hotel called Ramblas Hotel just before the San Augusti, will probably try this next time.

The hotel is located in one of the roughest areas in Barcelona according to the locals. Apparently the area is full of thieves and pocket peekers.
Apart from 2 glasses, our room had no other equipment eg kettle, coffee maker or else.
Given the high price, there are plenty of other decent hotels in better areas of Barcelona.

On the other hand, the hotel is clean and is renovated in a beautiful style.

There are lots of other hotels with the same price in the nicer part of Barcelona.

Room tip: Be mindful of the thieves around your hotel and overall around La Rambla street.

Hotel clean & comfortable but in a very sketchy area of Barcelona, drug addicts, beggars and phone thefts are very prominent in the square on which the hotel is located. If you are not streetwise this isn’t the best place to stay in Barcelona, which is a shame for the hotel and cafes around the square.

Room tip: The cafe next door has good coffee & friendly staff but don’t leave phones or wallets on the table, they will likely be stolen

The walls are very thin. We stayed in room 409, the room was very lovely but we could hear everything in the room opposite us 402 and the room below us. They kept blasting music and screaming at 3am in the morning. When we reported this to management nothing was done. Beds are comfy and cleaners do a great job. The square outside can be a little intimidating as there are many homeless there begging for money. Only a one minute walk to las ramblas which is great. I would avoid and find somewhere better

Room tip: Take earplugs if you are a light sleeper
