There are positives and negatives about this hotel. I was on a bus tour with Globus, so my room was booked for me. I paid for an extra night, $141. I now see a single room on this site for $70. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!
My room was nice and spacious. Great mattress and pillows. The hot water and shower were fantastic. Overall the condition of the hotel is very good. Nice amenities.
I did not like the location of the hotel. It is not close to the historical areas, nor the shopping/central area of the city. Being American and not able to speak much Spanish, my opportunity, not the hotel’s, traveling around the city was difficult. The hotel is near the Metro, but traveling alone, I did not want to run the risk of taking the wrong train and not finding anyone that could help me. Most every taxi ride was 15 euros and the drivers, not understanding English, (I did start writing down the address to (hand to them)just took off and started the meter. On three occasions, I was dropped off nowhere near where I wanted to be. Most drivers were extremely rude and were openly annoyed when I paid by credit card.
Only three of the hotel staff were nice to deal with, Yumara, Munia and a young man who worked evenings. Other members, especially the men who worked in the evenings and the man who worked the breakfast buffet were rude and did not really want to help me when I had a problem.
The hotel sold me a ticket for one of the hop on hop off double decker tour buses for 30 euro. I was given a print off of the payment. When I presented it to the bus, it would not scan. I had spent 15 euro on the way to the bus and 15 euro back to the hotel. I told the hotel about it. They said they would get me a refund which I still haven’t seen. This was six days ago. So I’m out 60 euro for a bus ride I never took. I also found out that the other tour bus runs near the hotel. Why wouldn’t the hotel sell that bus line?
Lastly, the breakfast was not good, especially the “hot items.” The eggs were cold and runny the sausages were barely cooked. The cut melons were not ripe.
I would only recommend this hotel if you can speak fluid Catalonian, the local Spanish dialect, navigate the metro or city bus line by being able to read Spanish.
As a footnote, I ran into rude taxi drivers in Barcelona and Madrid. I was severely language challenged in those two areas. I do not hold this hotel accountable for these issues.
I uses taxis today in Seville. What a difference, not just in taxi drivers, but in other service areas as well. One of the drivers told me Seville will soon be offering English classes for the drivers.
