We stopped at this hotel on our way to Alberta. The rooms are big - comfy beds and nice pool and workout gym. We took advantage of the gym. Great breakfast. Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel.

We called early to check if early check-in was possible as we arrived in Swift Current around noon, but the rooms weren't available. As a result, we checked in pretty late at the hotel, around 10:30 pm, but they were still happy to check us in.

Our room was situated close to the very side of the hotel. We were confused initially as we were dragging our luggage that we stumbled upon the stairwell at the end, but it turns out, our room is past that stairwell. While far from the elevator, at least we were close to the side stairs, where we conveniently parked.

The room was decent. Pretty well-maintained. The mirror light in the washroom was fancy though! Loved that.

Breakfast choices were pretty diverse. The sausage was heaven! And above all, they have a pancake machine *insert heaven sounds here*! For me that was enough. Pancake machine, instant 5 stars. I think I ate 10 of them.

The reviews of this hotel led me to believe that I would have a comfortable stay and good service. Neither happened. I’ve never had a worse stay in any hotel. The bathroom wasn’t clean and I had to wait until the next day for this to be rectified. Kids were running around screaming into the early hours of the morning. There was only one staff member on the premises and he said he didn’t have any authority to do anything about it. Then, the next two nights were punctuated by a vehicle alarm blaring on and off throughout the day and night. I spoke to a staff member on the morning of the second day and was told they had received a lot of complaints. She said that she would speak to the vehicle owner and make sure it stopped. A different staff member in the afternoon told me that she was unaware of any complaints but would look into it. Twelve hours after I first complained yet another staff member was on duty, again the only one on the premises, and he knew nothing about it. He said he “couldn’t hear anything” and “there’s nothing I can do anyway”. I was woken several times through the night and after three nights without an undisturbed sleep I had had enough.

Apart from not getting any sleep, I am not happy that a hotel of this size keeps only one staff member on duty. The queue at check-in was long and the staff were abrupt and clearly not happy. As a guest I am not interested in hearing how hard it is on them when the hotel is full. If hotel staff have issues with management they should speak to management about it, not their guests. If a guest has a problem the response shouldn’t be “I don’t hear anything”. It should be, “I will look into it” followed by actually doing that. If staff say they will leave a note for housekeeping they should leave that note. Not have guests waiting around for a bathroom to be cleaned that should have been clean when they checked in.

I will never stay in another hotel managed by this company (d3h hotels) nor can I recommend it.
