Following the fire at the Fairfield Inn, I had heard others at the emergency centre saying the Days Inn had vacancies and proceeded to book a room for our last remaining night of vacation. Since it was late at night and we had just been escorted into the Fairfield to retrieve our possessions, I ignored my gut instinct and headed to the Days Inn. Front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating to our situation. The room however was another matter. I flipped a pillow over on one of the beds only to find a rather large blood smear on the pillowcase. The first time the toilet was flushed - it overflowed, filled the bathroom and ran into the carpet. My daughter went to use the shower and found a spider in the bathtowel as well as in the bathtub. Walking across the carpet, I could feel lumps of what seemed like food crumbs on the floor. A beer bottle cap, pieces of popcorn and miscellaneous debris were along the edge of the beds. Clearly this room had not seen a vacuum in some time. The tops of the headboards had no less than 1/4" of dust all along the tops. Portions of the curtains were hanging from their hooks. The mini fridge had food smears in it. Honestly, I feel like the list of housekeeping deficiencies was never ending! Without a shadow of a doubt this is the worst hotel I've ever had the misfortune of staying in. The mattress were cheap and hard which made for a terrible night's sleep. Again - this has no reflection on the front desk staff but most definitely on the standard of "cleanliness" this establishment has. What they charge for a one night stay here is disgusting - considering the filth they expect you to live with and only because it's peak tourist season. Never, will I ever stay at this or any Days Inn ever again. The best part of our stay was seeing that dump in my rear view mirror.
