Perfect Beaver Creek ski trip for two

Review of Christie Lodge
Reviewed Jan 16, 2023via mobile
Requested a room on the top floor, an early checkin and late checkout and all were granted nicely. I brought a sound machine which was nice since the atrium carries voices up from the hot tubs. Was an easy drive to the Elk and Bear lots, a nice kitchenette and living room space for cards by the fire, the bed was comfy. More affordable than any whole-place airbnbs around too, and walking to Avon’s restaurants. Would stay again for Beaver Creek ski trip!

Hello Kathleen and thank you for the great review. The Elk and Bear lots are very close to us, but don't forget we are on the free bus route for the Beaver Creek Shuttle! We are looking forward to seeing you again next year!

Very small rooms. Indoor activities are located right outside the rooms - so they close them early due to noise levels. They charge more resort fees than anywhere else I have been. Stair locations seem like a fire hazard. Speaking of fire- during our stay there were at least 3 fire alarms that went off - all false alarms, but one of them was after 11pm - and it went on for over 30 minutes.

Jack, thank you for staying with us. I am sorry to hear you were inconvenienced by our fire safety upgrade project. Our property fees are some of the lowest in our area, $15.75/night. The fee covers parking and very high speed Wi-Fi. Our primary goal is to make sure our guest remain safe during their stay with us we are again very sorry this interfered with enjoying your stay.

Rooms are super small which didn’t used to matter, but now they charge resort fees, and are so cheap about everything. $3 for a lost key card, $7 for a $2 log, the cost to make a call from the room is so expensive that the agent wouldn’t tell me how much- just recommended I don’t use it! The staff was so unexcited and unwilling to help that we actually called a concierge at another hotel to get advice about where to eat. They just don’t care anymore. Sad because I grew up going here and we took our kids every year. Everyone was very disappointed this time, especially when they had been looking forward to the stay. We actually left early and canceled our 2nd week to stay somewhere else. The staff also put us next to renovations (drilling early) and the walls are paper thin- you can hear all the people in ski boots walking. Plus, there are barely any lights by the ping pong game tables, and a woman yelled at us to keep it down while trying to play ping pong at 5:15 pm (before dinner). The indoor pool closes at 5:00. They charged for resort fees even when half of the resort was closed due to renovations- no gym, no arcade, no indoor pool (which wouldn’t matter anyway because we got back from skiing after the indoor pool closed), and no more activities. My son went to get an activity calendar and they didn’t have any activities. The front desk also fought me on my second parking pass (we had 2 rooms) and kept telling me I’d have to pay more for parking. It’s a good location and pretty bldg with lots of places to sit and read. The outdoor pool was heated and I appreciated the hot tubs. However, I’d prefer to stay somewhere else next time.

Hello Christine and thank you for being a returning guest and for sharing your experience. I am assuming you own at a different property and came to us through a vacation ownership exchange program. We do not charge our owners for our property fee of $15.75 per night. The property fee is very low for our area and includes free parking and free high-speed Wi-Fi. Also, is not our intent to nickel and dime our guests and we sell a brand name fire log that is a little more expensive since they are the cleanest burning and most efficient. We are in the process of updating our fire safety system and should see the completion of that project in the next couple of months. We apologize for your inconvenience and hope you will try us again in the future when we are back to full operations.

Timeshare property. You can never sell. But they will try to sell you. Poorly updated. Not worthy of its location. Terrible service. Stuck in the ways of the past. If you’re ok with Motel 6, you May be ok with this place.

We stayed at Christie Lodge in December 2022. After viewing some of the comments by previous guests I was absolutely surprised at how nice this resort was and how friendly the staff were the entire length of my stay. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the dated furnishings could use some updating.

Rooms are a little dated and small, however, the room was very clean, very close to the ski slopes, and public transportation was readily available. There was ski rental available in the lobby, ski shuttle up to Beaver Creek was at the front door, and there were nice restaurants within walking distance of the resort.

I can't say enough good things about the way the staff was engaged and friendly. The hot tubs were a welcome location after a long day of skiing and they were very clean.

We enjoyed this trip so much that we cancelled our time share in Breckenridge next year in order to return to this resort for 2023.

We stayed in a three-bedroom condo which had three bathrooms, which was nice. The kitchen is very small and the living room area is odd. There is no table to eat at or play games, only a long counter to sit at with five stools. Have to pay for parking, wash/dry, games in activity center. Lots of steps if you are on the 2nd or 3rd floor. Can walk to several businesses. They keep it very clean. It reminded me of an abandoned mall as we were there pre-busy season. The pools and hot tubs were amazing! All heated and clean! Beds are comfy, showers have low water pressure, kitchen is limited with no oven and one burner. Easy drive to Vail. Close to interstate. Visit Minturn, cute little town close- by.

Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your review. It sounds like you had a nice stay and enjoyed our amenities and great location. Our three-bedroom suites do have a small kitchen and many of our guests find it more efficient to rent 2 one-bedroom suites where you will get 4 beds and two kitchenettes. Hope to see you back again.
