Great locaton - large aprt on great beach

Reviewed Jun 3, 2024
Good size of accommodation. Large balcony. Beach fab - plenty of loungers - watch out for the Cruise line people the have found out about the beach access it gets a little busy at periods but not enough too spoil . Great location on beach. Wasn't as clean a could be - long dark hairs on the floor. We booked via booking.com (RedAwnings) and was shown a front line room. We were not given said room and when we asked we were told the place was full. Also they charged us $150 for bar/food which you have to use up. This we found out is only for Owners and we should not have been charged. Wifi is charged at $20 per week. Also a cleaning fee each day - However they did not clean for a couple of days when we stayed then did a really good clean the day before we left ! Very odd. It was hit and miss with who you got at reception - one rude incorrect information giving reception lady and one super helpful lovely lady (Latrcia I think ger name was) shes a credit to the place.

The location was excellent right on the beach. The attendants provided beach chairs and set up umbrellas. The property was clean and well-kept good gardens and the pools were kept clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The amenities were in good condition and housekeeping did a good job.

Location! Haven’t found a better one. Been coming since 1987 as a timeshare owner and have never exchanged, but have exchanged other timeshare to the beach club and rent for extra weeks when we can. Longevity of staff makes it a return to family vacation.

I took my family here . I was overall happy and will return. The pictures are true to life that others have posted. The villas & the grounds are out dated. Hard beds & pillows. Our unit 38 had issues with doors sticking, entrance faced their construction area. Cleaning lady shows up every other day. Wi-Fi is not free. Bring cash for the water sports, massage, cabs, tipping. No breakfast, lunch is great at the pool restaurant. Restaurant next to mini mart serves dinner & open late. Pibc hosted a buffet dinner and it was just ok- lobster , ribs, peas/rice , salad, broccoli soup, dessert $65 .beach chairs included but the beach chair staff was borderline rude. They ignored questions & didn’t want to get us a chair. Night security also wasn’t helpful & seemed bothered when asked a question. Noticed the ladies were wonderful, friendly & helpful . The men - not at all . There was a cat family roaming the grounds - yuck! No bikes. Beach was AMAZING! That was the selling point . So looks at the pics from others reviews. Price point was FANTASTIC! I called PIBC directly for a price but I noticed lower prices for this resort elsewhere. Hotels on Paradise island will charge per person . Comfort Inn wanted $4k for the week & I found this place $300/ night on the beach .

Room tip: Bring cash for the water sports, go get your beach chair at 9AM. Go to grocery for breakfast food, dinner at local restaurants much cheaper

Took a mom daughters trip in April 2023 and was not thrilled with the accommodations. Disclaimer, I am not a bougie, high maintenance guest when going to beach resorts. All I need is a comfy bed, the beach and coffee available.... Cabbage beach was STELLAR! that was the best part of this vacation..

We were in room #24 which had an ocean view. The decor was outdated and the linens and decor were not exactly what the website shows. The twin beds were not comfortably and the linens were so thin and not cozy at all. They were similar to cheap motel fabric, with a soft sheet underneath which was a plus. The pillows were ok. We did have a nice ocean view, which was lovely. I noticed the patio table top glass was cracked. The whole unit needs updating. Little touches here and there go a long way, like replacing the shower curtain in the guest bathroom which was moldy, as well as replacing the piece that opens and closes the mini blinds that was also broken. The coffee machine worked fine and the A/C was excellent!! The front of our unit faced a chain link fence, that the public walks through to goto the beach, I recommend adding more greenery for privacy. The whole resort was probably gorgeous in its hay day, however now it needs a lot of TLC IMHO. It is like a blast from the past in the 80's!!!! The grounds could use more plush greenery throughout the resort. There is a bar and grill by the pool. There is NO DAILY BREAKFAST AT THE RESORT AT ALL!!! Only on the weekends. We finally had breakfast on Saturday and everything was stale and tasted terrible. The coffee was not good at all. Lunch was VERY GOOD!!!! Loved the burger and mahi sandwich! You basically get served food and drink when staff decides to show up. The drinks are good, I recommend drinking during happy hour as it gets pricey if you ask for an extra shot of alcohol!! There is a mini mart around the corner and they have the basics, just no half and half and no regular jelly for PB&Js..

You cannot get a chair on the beach until 9am, for you early birds.. The older gentleman that brought the chairs to you on the beach wasn't the most pleasant. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating!! Beautiful staff at the resort! Warm and welcoming.

PROS:
CABBAGE BEACH IS GORGEOUS!
Staff are welcoming and courteous

CONS:
Appears run down and needs major updates in rooms and grounds
Location not convenient, need a cab to go anywhere
NO COFFEE IN SIGHT only to be made in my room (silly I know)

Room tip: Rent car, as you are not walking distance to food and shops

Our family of 5 (kids age 14,12,11) had a fantastic trip to Paradise Island! Mostly in part due to the spectacular Cabbage Beach - it is so beautiful. We have travelled to many Caribbean beaches, so I have lot of comparables to work with.

As for Paradise Island Beach Resort, I will start with the cons (but there are many positives here!):

CONS:
- This place advertises that it has wifi, but that is far from fact. While we did have a modem in our unit, our wifi literally never worked at all the entire week. Seems this is a resort wide issue after talking to other guests there. We did mention this to the staff, who did their best to assist, even called in the IT guy, but it never actually worked, ever. The staff were kind enough to provide us with the staff wifi password, however, that also rarely worked. I’m talking, maybe it worked 10 min the entire week. We ended up burning through most of our own data. Please expect this when you go.

- All units are 2 bd/2bath. While spacious, like everyone else has noted, they are extremely outdated. It was a bit shocking walking in at first - like a time warp to the late 80’s I’d say. However, we didn’t go to spend the days in the unit and we quickly got used it to. The king bed though seemed too old and was not flat - causes a bit of back pain - but the beauty of the beach made it seem not so bad. I will say though that the couch in the living room and the dressers in the bedroom seem fairly new. I should note that the entire resort is quite outdated. This is a time share resort, with only 10 years remaining on it, after which it will be demolished we have been told - my guess is that they are putting the least amount of money into it for that reason which is understandable. If you go knowing this, it’s not so bad.
- Other reviews and I believe the website notes that there are bikes you can take out. We had a good laugh when we realized that the only bike available is a rusty child’s BMX bike that is from the 80’s with a kick stand you can hardly put up. Don’t expect bikes. They are not there.

PROS:
- The units, pools, and resort in general is very very clean.
- The kitchen is very well equipped.
- This resort sits on an absolute amazing part of Cabbage beach. Not crowded and walking distance to Atlantis and a few restaurants.
- The food and drinks available are great!
- The staff are so nice and accommodating
- You can change your beach towels whenever you like and they are clean and good quality
- Beach chairs and umbrellas available and there is no fighting for them at all
- Resort is small - only 44 units, so the place feels quaint which is what we wanted
- The is gym is great! Quite large and has everything you need with good equipment.
- Bedding and towels in the unit were very clean

Would we stay here again? We absolutely would. For us, this beats a large all inclusive any day. And honestly, the price point reflects the fact that it is indeed outdated. If you go expecting it to be comparable to a five star, prepare to be disappointed. If you go looking to spend time on a spectacular beach with friendly staff and clean accommodations, you’ll have a fantastic time.

Things to note - the closest grocery store is a 10 min taxi drive away
- Nassau airport is not far at all. Maybe a 20 min taxi ride
- there is a restaurant and store right beside it. We loved the restaurant and the store has booze and all the necessities you may need
