It's Alright

Reviewed Apr 27, 2023
I have mixed feelings about our stay here. We stayed April 2023 and there were pros and cons.

Pros:
*Friendly staff, everyone was absolutely lovely.
*Affordable option if you want access to the Atlantis waterpark and beaches.
*Location is within walking distance of several restaurants and Atlantis.
*Free breakfast (everything on Paradise Island is insanely expensive, so it was nice to save money for one meal).
*Drinks at the bar were the most affordable on the island, and they were really good!
*The restaurant had delicious food.
*The housekeeping always did a great job of cleaning the room.
*The front desk staff were very helpful in calling us a taxi.

Cons:
*It took us an hour from when we arrived to the hotel to when we were able to check-in. They had three people working the front desk, and it took approximately 20 minutes for them to check in each guest. I'm not sure why it took so long, but it was very frustrating to have to wait in line for such a long time after traveling all day.
*You have to get a wristband at Atlantis for every day that you stay (if you want to use the Atlantis facilities). This can only be done at one ticket counter by the aquarium, but it can be difficult to find. Also, there's always a line and it takes a while for you to get your wristband because only one person is working the ticket counter. So if you want to go to the waterpark, get there early!
*Our room door did not close easily. We had to slam it shut to make sure it was closed all the way.
*The sliding glass door did not lock. Luckily we weren't staying on the ground level, but it was still concerning that we could not lock the door.
*Another door issue was that one of the doors in the hallway to exit the building did not open, which was concerning in the event there was a fire.
*The shower only had about 2-3 minutes of warm water before it turned cold. I had a sunburn so it wasn't horrible, but it would be a problem for a normal person.
*The room always had a strange smell.

Overall it was an okay stay. I just wish there was a more efficient check-in process and that the rooms were better maintained. But, if you're looking for an affordable option to Atlantis, then this is the place to choose.

Came here because a travel agent recommended it as a lower cost alternative to the Baja Mar. Each night also includes a day pass to the Atlantis.

First of all, the people there are lovely.

Multiple rooms were not ready at check-in. I was wondering why there were lots of people in the lobby, some sleeping. So we had to wait until 5pm for our room.

They charge you for the entire stay when you check in. Probably to keep you from going elsewhere.

The hotel is pretty run down, water stains on walls and ceilings, stained carpet, and a generally musty smell.

It’s a royal pain in the butt time not to be able to charge things to your room.

They are also evidently having a problem with their new POS system. I had a couple drinks and the bartender said that I couldn’t put it on my room, so I had to go all the way back to my room get my wallet come back and pay for a $22 bill. It was pretty inconvenient. On our way out to the fish fry. We passed the front desk and I asked him about this, they said that I shouldn’t have any problem that I can certainly charge anything to my room and to just have them call if there was a problem. The next day I had a drink at the bar in the same damn thing happened. They called the front. The front said it shouldn’t be a problem, but I just went ahead and put it on my card.

Room tip: I won’t be back

This was our third stay at the Comfort Suites. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, showers are always hot and full breakfast is included. The Atlantis is across the street and use of facilities is included. Staying here is a no brainer. There is no reason to pay Atlantis prices. I have stayed at the Atlantis in the past and it is now in need of upgrading. Also we had dinner in the restaurant in our hotel and it was the best dinner we had all week. Don't miss the Junkanoo parade on Friday night at 9 in the marina village. My only complaint would be the mildew smell in the halls.

This place is an absolute dump. Broken furniture, broken doors, dirty, stinky, awful. Two star property at most. And ridiculously expensive for what they provide. Staff was helpful. Stay somewhere else.

Do not stay here!!! I went with family and we had two separate rooms. A/C did not work in either and the fridge in my room didn’t work. The A/C was filled with mildew and smelled awful. Asked for maintenance twice and no one ever showed up. My son and his fiancé and my 2 year old grandson stayed in another room and they found a huge amounts of very large ants. When they called to complain they wanted to just come spray. My son said absolutely not with a two year old in the room. Complained and asked for a discount but was told they couldn’t do it. Had to have a family friend with connections complain to get a $200 refund. I’ll have to see if I actually get it. If I could give zero stars I would.

Room tip: Don’t go here

Comfort Suites Paradise Island is a wonderful, less expensive option to the Atlantis - with all of the Atlantis' amenities included. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are cleanl We got free buffet breakfast everyday.

The restaurant, Crusoe's, opened in 2008, offered delicious meals and a well-stocked bar. CRYSTAL - here's to another 30 years!

One caveat: the Atlantis does NOT make it easy to enjoy its Aquaventure Water Park for nonguests. The single place for day passes, albeit free, is about 7/8 of a mile walk thru various confusing sections of the Atlantis. The line moves slowly--only one person handles the wrist bands--and, as an older traveler, was unpleasant. I won't be doing that again.
