Formerly known as Gardenia Resort now managed with 4 other resorts as part of Bourbon Street Hotels / Resorts.
Now called "The Pure Oasis" this place has the location that you want. Walk across the street to all the action of Negril's famous Seven Mile Beach. Its located on Norman Manley Boulevard where there are many shops and restaurants to walk to. Many of the suites have kitchenettes in the rooms so be sure to clarify what you're paying for. The rooms are each different so it can be a little tricky getting a nice one. Don't be scared to room shop when you arrive. The staff are excellent and personable. The place is older but for the most part pretty clean. Its basic accommodation for a pretty good price especially considering what people are paying for across the street at the all inclusive hotels like Couples or Beaches.
This place is a nice mix of local Jamaicans, expats and tourists from all over. This is the real Jamaica.
Should you be lucky enough to get a suite with a kitchenette be sure to support the local merchants and nearby vegetable fruit sellers. There is no welfare / social assistance system in Jamaica so if they don't make money they don't eat. Its as simple as that.
One such person is the Rasta Man called Bobo – right next door to the Public House Restaurant. He's a kind hearted soul that won't overcharge you cause you're a tourist. Often times he has rare fruits that aren't found in stores like the June Plum. We'd never had one and its amazing. Like a cross between a Mango and a pineapple. Wow. He gave us all sorts of samples to try. Bobo also will make sure you're getting nice ripe ready to eat fruit. We often eat salads and Bobo will bring in lettuce, tomatoes and the like. We bought from other vendors and he was the best for quality produce. Get him to cut a fresh coconut for you. Can't say enough good about this man.
Lastly there's even a convenience store nearby called Bev's. They've got everything you need at pretty good prices. Everything you need is within walking distance.
Note: Their website seems to be wonky. Last time I looked it showed no vacancies regardless of time of year Would probably best to email them.
