Hello Clare and Norman,
Firstly, starting with the most shocking comment in your review. The property is unfortunately in need of some major TLC following your stay where you and your friends broke and smashed multiple items. This included 3 historic chairs, pulled down ceiling nets around the beds, pulling two wardrobe doors completely off, and smashed glasses, plates, and ornaments throughout the house. We have never, ever, had damage and destruction by any guests staying with us, and we have had hen parties, young groups of people celebrating carnivals, birthday parties, and weddings.
Second, the value for money and claim about our hotel services. We donated a week's stay to CHARITY, which you bid on/won. You did not stay as part of our hotel but as part of our commitment to raise funds for charity. You did not book our hotel services, which include full staff, turn-down service, a full kitchen team, all drinks and meals, classes, hikes, etc. This was well known to you prior to bidding at the charity event, prior to your stay, and reiterated during your stay.
You hired a private chef during your stay with us. You were disappointed on the first day, and told us and the chef. You were told we could cancel the chef for the 3 other days you had booked. You said that it was all fine and you wanted to keep the chef and service.
We are glad you hold our bedding and linen in high esteem.
Please review the liaisons I have had with your husband if any of the above is unclear.
