We have a house near Valencia but we have been travelling around Spain for 5 weeks, including Murcia, Almeria, catalunya, Castille, and more. We’ve been spending a lot of tine in Spain for 11 years, but we used this trip to try to sample the more authentic things, including food! Sin duda lo mejor comida de Espana! We enjoyed the authentic atmosphere and pinchos better than anything we have ever had in Spain. For the fine diners, this is real food! Not manufactured with a 3x price tag Authentic, beautifully presented and tasty. From Bacalau, Anchoa, (amazing very light anchovies in a super delicate pastry with tomatoes etc), A gorgeous crepe, beautiful stuffed pimientos, and amazing chistora!!! I’ve been studying Spanish food as part of my understanding of the language and this exceeded my expectations of this type of food! Tasty, beautifully cooked. I thought I was in a Rick Stein documentary got a minute! Forget fine dining, expensive chandeliers. Come here. A great find! Great local fresh food, and unbelievably inexpensive. This was a culinary highlight for me! Up there for sure! Great experience too! Disfruta!

Great place for people gazing while you share a line of pintxos and a variety of truly decent regional reds. They offer a real attempt to guide you through the pintxos on offer in the bar - but you do wise in selecting fresh ones too - the liver, the bacalao and the pimente ones are superior.

Well established bar with 60 years of history. Good tapas with bechamel sauce being a speciality. Try the cod and sauce parcel.

Having had an awful experience (worst customer service ever, cardboard tapas) at the nearby Iruna Cafe, what a delight to experience professional and customer focused service at this traditional Pamplona tapas bar. Excellent selection of tapas, delicious chiperones and freshly cooked pulpo.

We came for a couple of pintxos and drinks but stayed longer because of the friendly service. Clean place, too.

We tried a different pintxos bar each day during our week in Pamplona. All were consistently good but this one stood out amongst the rest. Great atmosphere and one had to force one's way to the bar. Incredible hustle and bustle with an animated buzz all around like a good pintxos house should be. We struggled to find a table due to the popularity of the place. A kind and watchful server resolved this for us very quickly and found us a cosy table in the corner. We felt lucky. And then the food. The attention to detail was extraordinary. Each platter presented as a work of art. Fresh and imaginative, we could have stayed for hours eating and observing. Instead we had a couple of glasses of a beautiful red and a cool, crisp white Rioja and left with the sense of a valuable experience behind us. Would return in a blink.

Quite possibly the best corner bar location in Pamplona. This place is always crowded, mostly with locals. They have several tables outside along Estafeta and Espoz y Mina. They serve a great selection of delicious appetizers and wines and have a very friendly waitstaff that are always very busy but still find a way to seem personable. They even have a few special items off-menu. If you're a foodie, ask for the "tapa de degustation" and a glass of white Rueda for a real treat.

Looks like a nice traditional bar for snacks and drinks but little effort put either into the food or the service.

At the end of a long day of walking the Camino de Santiago, I asked the staff at my hotel for a good pinchos bar. Pinchos are known as tapas in other parts of Spain. It was a wonderful suggestion. Great choice of pinchos even late in the day and a beer. It was perfect.

I really really really dislike giving 1 star reviews, but I would like to prevent a potential second experience such as mine and make another suggestion as to other suitable bars around the area for better eating and drinking. Being, a local here as opposed to a tourist, I have familiarized myself with the cuisine of Navarra and Basque country. Overall, rich and well-balanced with thoughtful use of the sea and land to craft a number of dishes that are truly special. However, out of the general positive experiences, there are poor ones too like Bar Fitero. This is my second time here. First time was fine; had their Relleno con Foie and Sweet Bread “Brick” which were good (the former being the better one). However the second experience was incredibly disappointing. My friend ordered a red and I, a mini. The red was of such a low pour that we just looked at each other as if we had taken a half-drank glass from someone else. I asked the bartend if this was it and he just shrugged and said yes. We looked around and it seemed that all the other glasses were substantially fuller. But no gripe with a 2 Euro glass of wine, so we let it go. Then for eats, we had the pulpo (decent, nothing special), the relleno con foie (again), and Gambas a la Plancha (grilled shrimp). And oh boy, the gambas. About 12 sad-looking skinny, straight-tailed shrimp came on a plate. As soon as I started peeling, the flesh came apart, goopy and soft- an indicator that this shrimp has been sitting around for a long time or came frozen. All twelve were as such. When it was time to pay, we were stunned when we saw that these gambas were 19 Euros. Hell, I could have had a 3 course menu for that 5 meters away at Casa Evaristo. When asked, the bartend said it was precio de mercado (market price) and shrugged again. I was absolutely floored. 19 Euros for some frozen shrimp was a slap in the face to both me and the entire food culture in northern Spain. The people here prize themselves on, quick, fresh, and affordable faire, but this experience was anything but. So as a side note, feel free to come if it’s San Fermines and this bar just so happens to not be crazy packed. But with an abundance of hot pinchxos bars like Bar Gaucho literally next door, La Cocina de Alex Mugica, and Irunazarra, I would be hard pressed to recommend Bar Fitero.
