I visited Max Enk in 2019 - and had the pleasure writing a positive review here on TA. Now, three years later and post the pandemic, I revisited the restaurant in May. It is still on a very good level of both cooking and environment. All my other observations remains: rather noisy big dining room (an old bank hall), kind staff, mainly classic dishes on the menu, fresh ingredients and a tad expensive. Also enjoyed, once again, their Crêpes Suzette, properly prepared at the table. It is "semi" fine dining, relaxed and no fuzz. Although, not cheap...

Fantastic quality local saxonian cuisine. An interesting menu with lots of quality local produced meats/vegetables/fish/.Well prepared,professionally waited and very friendly attentive service with two courses of amuse geule of the highest quality

Nice but not exceptional

Treated myself to the 5 course menu. In fact the bread did not seem so fresh. Halibut tartare was good, with a little salad and sauce. Lobster bisque was thin but had a piece of lobster in the raviolo. I don’t think mango is a good flavour for a sorbet palate cleanser.Duck breast was a whole breast, too much, but rhubarb with it was delicious and unusual. Dessert was a very solid parfait, not sure what flavour, with a strange assortment of chocolate soil, apricot pieces, creamy sauce. Sachsen Rose wine was good. It was a warm evening so dinner was served on the terrace.

Blandness reigns supreme!

The main problem wasn’t even that the meat was old. It was the whole place. Designed for people who proudly sport all over prints and who want to show that they have a bit of money. The food is bland and boring. There is literally no taste just texture. If you enjoy sitting in a room with people straight from a bad TV show portraying the rich and famous and eat the most boring food you can imagine then this is the place for you. Otherwise MC Donalds is the better choice. It is actually hilarious. Imagine a movie that is so bad it actually is good in an entertaining way.

A quiet courtyard for a delicious meal

A young and motivated team welcomed us. On a balmy evening, we were able to sit on the terrace under large umbrellas. The menu offered some classic Germany cuisine with a modern and regional twist. We were happy to find a favoured German wine on the extensive wine list. The portions were rather generous. Perhaps a little too generous as we were unable to find room for dessert after starters and mains. But the food was well plated and delicious. We settled for a digestive to complete the meal.

Auf Wiedersehen Sweetheart

When you discover a great restaurant you don’t want to leave,hence the title. The location is quiet away from the main squares and the food a cut above. We enjoyed lots of local produce,white asparagus was perfect. The summer risotto with pea shoots and creamy sauce complimented by crisp white wine. Service excellent the staff helpful and friendly .. enjoy the Leipzig culinary gem .

Great food,service needs improvement

Had a reservation for dinner. Welcome friendly.Table with sufficient distance for privacy.Small tasty amuse guele.Excellent food.Service by various waiters. One very attentive,another one did not return when his jokes were not appreciated,another came unsolicited putting dessert menus on the table. With a friendlier and more attentive service this could be an outstanding restaurant .

Nnice and diverse menu. Good locally sourced products, well prepared and very nicely presented. Very friendly service, beautiful spacious room centrally located in the old town. Not cheap but still acceptable. A good address, clearly on step (or two) above the average local restaurant.

We’ve checked online reservation web and it’s all fully booked , luckily we wrote an email and also making phone call, then we got our seats ! We had the Max Menu 79€ , the rote bete carpaccio is very interesting idea combine with baked fish , but maybe personal taste , I didn’t feel quite matching ! The beef soup is nice and light , the fish and the Duck breast are well done !! 👏 Dessert is also nice ! Service is rather cold from the beginning but gets better afterwards! Some waitress are a bit shy though ! I guess Max Enk must have ambition to get the Michelin award , keep on and go for it ! I think if the service team can make some better adjustments, and I am sure you will have it soon !!

We decided to go and have Lunch during a daily trip in Leipzig to Max Enk "Max Enk" is a restaurant that, on the paper, it looks super fine but actually your experience will be different accordingly to your own taste and idea of passing some good time with some food We ordered 4 different dishes between Appetisers, 1st and 2nd courses, plus a small kiss from the kitchen, as they called it. All this for a bit less than 100€ Well if you are looking for quantity ... surely is not your restaurant If you are looking to some extravagant food presentation, it might be cool to see some of the dished the house is proposing But if you are looking for some good combination of food elements in your plat !?! Well ... is not your case either The dishes are characterised by a very minimalistic presence of the food that you are ordering and willing to eat However you will find a lot of green flowerish topping, that are really not matching with any flavour of the rest of the foods elements on the plat. At first the presentation it looks good, but if I have to be honest the most good things I ate in this restaurant it was the small kiss from the kitchen ( mustard sauce touch at the base, with above couscous and a meet ball laid on top, without forgetting some flower... of course ) The service it looks at 1st pretty cool but very slow in the reality and no English ... So if you are not speaking very well German Not your restaurant

Really extraordinary location/interiors! A fantastic combination of old building and modern interiors. Very tasty food! We had fish tartar and a variety of mozzarella as starters. Really good and done with a different twist - in a positive way. For main we had asparagus with accessories. Not as unexpected and interesting as the starters, yet very tasty, served in a traditional way. Knowledgeable staff and friendly service. Very good value for money, 139 euros for two, including pre-drinks and wine.

Delighted with our second visit after many years

Much enjoyed returning to this lovely restaurant after many years. As before the quality of the food was excellent. We had a delicious lunch in the open air in a comfortable setting and service was very good.
