The hotel is located in a nice old town. Staff is very friendly and the rooms are really nice. The whole hotel has a very good atmosphere.
Breakfast was really good and in a beautiful space. There is also a very big lounge for people to sit and have free coffee or tea. In the evering it is just a few minutes stroll to the boulevard with many restaurants.
The hotel provides free parking, but can be a challenge if your car is somewhat larger. Be aware that we did have a room with the bed and the bath not on the same level. Going down a stair without handrails in the middle of the night can be tricky. Might be better for some people to request same level when they make a reservation.

We enjoyed everything at this hotel !!

Tips.
There is a restaurant just around the corner of the hotel on the side of the path to the boulevard, where we had the most delicious diner for a very good price as well.
We visited Isola Bella and Madre south of the town, but it was horrible. Very pricy and really stressfull. We went on a monday in september and it was very crowded. No parking space to be found, parking machines that didn't work, rude people of the many ferry companies everywere. I was so very stressed by everything that I actually started to cry. The Islands weren't very impressive either for this kind of money and many of the paths were closed. It might be better to park somewhere in town en enjoy the islands from the shore. You can book a trip from Cannobio to the islands as well. I don't know if it is any good, but maybe the front desk can help.
When you cross the border to Switserland, valle maggia and valle verzasca are just an half hour drive. Sightseeing into the valleys passing beautifull water spots and nice little villages as Foroglio (don't forget to drive beyond there as well)

Hotel Pironi came highly recommended from several U.K. travel blogs and broadsheet magazine reviews.
The high praise was not misplaced. This tiny (16 rooms I think) little boutique hotel in an ancient conversion just a few steps from the lakeside boardwalk delivered in every regard.
Hotel parking is a five minute walk away on cobbled streets, but free, easy to find & secure. The welcome was friendly and my room was ready by 2pm (I had only travelled 20 minutes up the road from Cannero Riviera).
I had one of their roof top rooms (room 3) that was split over two floors.
The main room, with a large comfortable bed and storage led out onto the rooftop / side terrace that gave wonderful views of the lake, despite the hotel being set back from the actual lake (Cannero is on a slope down to the lakeside, so you look over the surrounding rooftops). Upstairs was then the spacious bathroom with a wonderful ‘monsoon’ shower. The room was also air conditioned.
Breakfast downstairs each morning was a wonderful buffet, with a full selection to choose from. Otherwise, the hotel had no bar or restaurant. Not that this was a problem being right in the centre of Cannero and all of its lake side bars & restaurants.
The amazing building, the friendly staff and the small, boutique nature of Hotel Pironi make a real gem well worth a visit.

Such an authentic, classy hotel with the friendliest and most helpful staff ever! We had such a great time in this wonderful, historic hotel. The bedrooms are spacious with antique furniture and modern comfy (large) beds and bathrooms, the breakfast room is amazing with frescoes on the walls on ceiling, the breakfast was superb with plenty to choose from, plus the staff are just so kind and helpful. Would go back in a heartbeat!

After seeing the rooms advertised on the hotel website, we booked in early January, & specifically asked for “a beautiful one with lake view” for 3 nights. It was for the special occasion of our 42nd Wedding Anniversary.
The hotel is in a good location & the old building itself was lovely.
But when we were shown to our room it was dark, and very plain - nothing like the photos of the other rooms on the website with their ornate ceilings, antique furniture, lovely colours and quirky details. But the biggest disappointment was the view: it looked out over rooftops and tv aerials of the backstreets, & there was only the tiniest glimpse of the lake.
We asked for a nicer room with a proper lake view but were told by the receptionist that they were already booked. After much pushing, she showed us 2 other rooms which were tiny and even darker, and which looked out onto the brick wall across the street.
We declined these. The receptionist called the owner (who didn’t speak English) who then arrived out of breath, and confirmed no sorry there was nothing else. They claimed that they had sent us an email saying there were no lake view rooms available, but that they would “try” - but we never received that or we would have cancelled the booking, because a proper view of the lake was most important to us.
We were so upset at their attitude that we decided not to stay there at all, and having eventually found another hotel nearby (after a lot of stress & extra expense, as it was such short notice) told the receptionist and owner that we were leaving as we had not been given the room we had requested, & what could we negotiate by way of a partial refund?
The owner very rudely and bluntly just shrugged & said through the receptionist “nothing”.
We were quite taken aback at her attitude: she didn’t care that we were upset; she didn’t care that it was our Anniversary, and there was absolutely no attempt to offer even €1 as a gesture of apology.
We left our phone number and asked her to consider the matter, and to ring us tomorrow, but she said “the answer will be the same.” The receptionist started to say “perhaps if you come back another time we can see what we could do….” But the owner stopped her.
I would NEVER go back to that hotel in a million years, and I would advise anyone who books expecting to get one of the lovely rooms on the website to be very careful, in case they get ripped off too.

Dear Guest, we are sorry for what happened, we are sure that it was a misunderstanding, but we believe it is essential to clarify what happened with your booking. You made your reservation on Booking.com on January 21st and at the time of your booking there were no lake view rooms available online (because they were all already reserved - as you could see when booking) and therefore you booked a standard room. Being a standard room, the description says "with mountain view" and "with city view". In no way do we deceive the customer into believing that this type of room can have a lake view. So, it was your choice to book the standard room with mountain and city views. After booking, with a message sent via Booking.com, you asked us for a room with a balcony and lake view since it was a special occasion for you, your wedding anniversary. We replied to the message saying that all the rooms with lake view were already reserved but that if a room became available, we would gladly upgrade. Unfortunately, it is not possible to satisfy all requests, and when you booked the room, it was very clear that it was a room without a lake view, as the description of the room is very clear. If it had been so important to have a room with a balcony and lake view you could have called us to ask if someone had cancelled the reservation for a room with lake view and if it was possible to upgrade. Our cancellation policies provide for free cancellation within 7 days before the customer's arrival, you have had plenty of time to make sure that we have assigned you a lake view room and possibly cancel the reservation. However, being a special event for you, we thought we would do something pleasant by reserving a beautiful large room with balcony and partial lake view for you. It is a room that our customers always like and it is very bright, unfortunately the adverse climate of these days, a lot of rain and darkness, has probably made it seem like a dimly lit room. Our hotel is housed in an ancient historic building and all the rooms are different from each other, as can be seen in the photos published. We only have 12 rooms of which only 3 have a lake view and all rooms are published online, also the room we have reserved for you is published on Booking.com. We have proposed that you could change rooms, possibly even the next day, if you had the pleasure, obviously not to a lake view, since as already mentioned, they were all reserved. Having rejected our proposal, we offered you a discount on the room, €520.00 instead of €560.00 for a 3-night stay, but this was also rejected by you. We are sorry that as much as we tried to help you, we saw no desire on your part to resolve the situation. We did our best to resolve a situation that we honestly did not create, as the room booked was a standard room, not a lake view, and this was very clear. We are sorry but we were unable to do more than this. We always try to please the customer and satisfy their requests, but unfortunately there was no good will on your part to meet our proposals. Kind regards.

The setting and staff were really fabulous, although the hotel seemed oriented to a more staid clientele. There weren't a lot of amenities for kids (outdoor space, pools, games, etc) but the staff were still very gracious and friendly with them. We found our family room(s) spacious and comfortable, with a sweet Juliet-style balcony overlooking the street outside. Most of the windows faced an enclosed inner courtyard, which was fine if not ideal. If I were to stay there again I'd seek a room with a better lake view. The wifi requires lots of sign ons and the parking arrangement is a bit curious -- with a parking pad or garage down a different street from the hotel. You can't actually reach the hotel easily by car, but nevertheless but found the parking satisfactory.

Stayed in this hotel 12 years ago on a business trip and returned with my wife for our wedding anniversary.
Stayed in room 3 which has a terrace overlooking Lake Maggiore.
Very welcoming staff at check in and at the incredible breakfast included in the price.
Reception also provides restaurant recommendations and arranged bookings.
Cannot fault this hotel, we will return.

We have been to Pironi multiple times and every time we simply love it.

This time as a family with our two-year old daughter and again what a lovely place! Everything we asked for her, crib, high chair in the restaurant - all there, well prepared.

The hotel itself and the room is very clean - rarely seen such a clean and well maintained place! Well done!

The breakfast buffet is very nice and attentive and friendly staff there.

So if you are looking for a place to stay, no need to go anywhere else than Pironi. Beautiful rooms, a very nice „living room“ to relax after a long day and simply perfect experience in all aspects.

Thank you Pironi team, you made and will make us come back to Cannobio again and again 🙏

Great little place close to the water and right in the thick of things in busy, beautiful Cannobio. The hotel is charming, no doubt, but what really separates it from other properties are the two incredibly cheery ladies who took wonderful care of my family: Nadine and Denise. Always happy, always laughing, always looking to assist...in various languages. Even though they were wearing masks due to COVID restrictions, you could see the smiles in their eyes.

Nadine and Denise are rock stars and their pictures should be in the dictionary below the term HOSPITALITY.

Kudos!
